I really like the exterior design of the A4 and especially the A5 over the E90/E92. I haven't driven the new Audis yet though.

are you serious? this must be a joke. My family has gone through 4 audi's and its safe to say the vehicles do not compare. Interior quality is of the poorest crafstmanship. Buttons and knobs get loose and wobbly, center console falls apart, the leather peels, and everything makes a fucking noise. Audi's are just epic fails. they fall apart too quickly

Hmmm, my Audi is still rock solid in the interior (8 yrs. old). None of the issues you describe.

if the prices were more in line, I would've thought a lot harder about the S5 instead of the 335i, but I have no regrets with my decision...until HPFP failure

C & D has always been biased to the roundel. I've driven both cars and to me the Audi 2.0T performed better than a 328. In the 328 I could count till 3 before it even moved after I floored it.

I've seen a lot of 'opinions' in this post.

Now some irrefutable facts:
  • BMW resale is better than Audi.
  • You see more BMW e30s on the road today than Audi 80s.

I haven't seen anything to indicate that current e90 vs A4s will be any different in another 10 years.

Weird, cause I think my previous 325i was quicker off the line than my 2.0T. I've floored the A4 before and turbo lag is prominent.

I think maybe you were pressing the wrong pedal? Or perhaps you forgot to depress the brake.

I think the interior of most Audi's look like a $million. There's no doubt in my mind that they excel in this area. The 2009 exterior styling is also commendable.

About performance, most of their engines are under-powered if you compare apple to apple. So, please don't compare the S4 with a 328i. If you want to use the S4, then compare it to the M3. I am also not too convinced by the AWD that's FWD-biased.

Personally, I think Audi is pretty much restricted by the parent company (VW) to keep the cost down under some kind of corporate policy. BMW, on the other hand, owns itself and makes decisions for itself.

I had an A6 2.7T. Awesome car, comfortable, nice interior. Until it broke. Many times.

I had no idea Audi was owned by VW. Interesting.

One of my coworkers just bought a brand new A5 and it does look nice, but I am personally not a fan of the interior compared to the BMW. I especially hate their new steering wheel. Plus when you compare how each car drives, the steering of the BMW blows it out of the water. Not to mention that my Bimmer with DCI and JB3 would absolutely smoke his A5. I know i am biased but Audi is not my cup of T.

Who cares? Buy and drive what you like. I could give a rats ass for what someone else thinks about my car or which one is better. Frankly if the Audi were better we would see a lot more of them on the road. I see lots of BMWs and rarely see Audi. Having said that I am buying an Audi TTs for my wife because that is what she likes.

So few people here realize both can be great cars. As a car enthusiast i love both. I just happened to pick the 335 over the S4, as it is easier to lightly mod and get a large improvement, i would love either.

I owned a 2005 A4 2.0T. It was a nice car, good peppy turbo (with a manual transmission) for a 4-banger. The new Audi looks awesome, but I think that the pricetag isn't worth it compared to a 335i. If comparing to a 328i, you may have to look a little closer.

I used to think BMW was jerking people around with "The Ultimate Driving Machine" until I drove an E46 (previous generation) M3.

In terms of AWD performance, the Quattro system is amazing, and is more drivable in weather conditions than a RWD BMW. Keep that in mind too.

Hi, I am new to this forum, very interesting and informative. Thank you everyone!

I have owned 4 different Bmws and 7 different Audis, currently an E92 335i and Audi B6 S4 and C5 S6. Each of my car serve its own purpose, fun and enjoyment(depends on my mood/need at that moment). Personally, I have switched back and forth between these German brands and others in-between(Japanese and American).

Each of the German have their positives and negatives, it really depends on that particular series/model. You should either test drive or try to rent one or borrow one from a buddy to really see if its the right car for YOU, not just base on reading it from magazines or forums, etc... But they are a good way to start.

Good Luck with your decision, can't go wrong with either brand.
