BMW Garage Door Opener

Did anyone else have difficulty programming their universal BMW garage door opener? I've followed all the steps in this video:

http://www.bmwusa.com/Standard/Conte...9-b027c9df8f55

and still no luck. I wonder if it is a hardware issue with the unit; it occasionally works while I'm parked in the garage but never while I'm in the driveway.

I had difficulties also. After repeated failed attempts at programming the first button (left hand side), I tried programming the right button. It worked the first time using that button.

This may be an old trend, but I'm new! So, hear it is. I have a new garage door opener, one with assureLink. This is the new technology of the garage door openers. The BMW does not support it in their vehicles. I called the garage door opener manufacturer (home link). They make all of them and they are sending me a repeater that will make this work. The best part is BMW is covering the cost minus shipping. Isn't that nice of them!

that is pretty nice, does the repeater go in the car or in the garage? I have always found the range of the cars opener to be... pathetic

It gets plugged in inside any garage outlet. Even though ur opener might have battery backup, If ur house loses power the repeater will, and ur garage won't open. It comes w it's own remote, that is the remote used to teach the homelink, thereby defeating the extra security features. But id rather have a working homelink. It not really homelinks fault, it's BMW not putting the most recent modules in and the opener companies not disclosing on the box that it may not be backward compatible w later cars, or I would have bought a model w/o the extra security feature.
