$80,000 E90/92 M3?

So today I'm watching the KTLA morning show and I see the newscaster broadcast live from the LA Auto Show.

They then proceed to talk about BMW and the new M3.

The representative on behalf of the LA Auto Show then mentions the "pricing" of the new M3.

He says, "This right here is the new M3, a big car for BMW enthusiasts. It's about $80 thousand dollars".

WTF?

I'm not sure if he mentioned the US official price?

Maybe this is the price of the car fully optioned and after taxes?

I also noticed a little podium with specs near the car just as you all have seen at the Frankfurt Show and the Toyko Show.

Possibly the MSRP came from the podium?

Anyone else hear any numbers from the LA Auto Show?

Discuss.

Typically BMW prices the coupes above the sedans; and with the M5 starting at $82k, I would imagine an $80k M3 would have to be loaded coupe.
I'm guessing the sedan will start around $60k.

Use the search, because possible pricing has been discussed a ton.

Yeah, I'm not sure if he was referring to the E92 or E90.

The only M3 they aired was the E90 and that's when he mentioned the $80k pricetag.

Seems high...but I wouldn't be suprised the way the US dollar has been tanking. It's down at least 20% against the Euro over the last year or so.

If it is 75k to 80k including taxes, tags and title they are going to lose a ton of people off the waitlist. If it's 75k to 80k before taxes, tags, and title they might lose everyone. Will be fun to watch, since I am not buying one. I'm thinking 62k base and 72k out the door for a fully loaded coupe, but more hopeful people believe a base coupe price will be 59k not 62-65k.

The US dollar is in toilet paper status, so a major price shock would not suprise me. They are smart for not announcing the pricing until the last second.

I heard that these cars are going to be priced around +_70k.. coupe vs sedan, coupe will be a little more the most 4k? because of the high demand etc etc...

Thats ridiculous. A 3 series should NOT be reaching into Z06, Viper and 911 price territory, regardless of the performance.

80K is Carrera territory. Way too high IMO.

80k is poorly equipped carrera-S territory. They've got to be kidding.

I think it'll be roughly under $80k if he's right.

More like $75k+ after fully optioned and taxed.

I'm sure gouging dealers will be aiming for the $80k mark.

The RS4 is sold for roughly $75k at most of the dealers I've seen online and in person.

Love the M's line, but for that fu**ing money I'll buy a GTR and smoke every M3 owner on the roads. Looks like BMW will become my daily driving cars and my high performance cars will come from Porche and Nissan's GTR. Fu** if they think I'll give them 80k for a loaded M3, I can get a used M5 in great condition with less than 20k on it for less than that, and I would rather have the M5.

+1 on everything that has been said. $80k is too much $ for an M3. I guess it's gonna be veryyyy exclusive now.

Wow! I agree about maybe looking at an M5.
This waiting for the official price is killing me.
