Code Reader Question:

I bought this today for a friend as a present, since he has JB3, and wanted to know if it's good to clear all codes:
Actron Code Reader
Let me know!
Thanks,
Izzy

I just bought the same one and it works perfectly to read and erase codes on my 08 335. Just make sure he reads the instructions on how to delete the codes.

Does this require a laptop like the rest? If not, I'm most likely going to jump on this.

Tomorrow i'm going to a local BMW shop to erase codes, and we'll compare, i'll go through and delete all of my codes on my little portable device, then i'll have them delete em and compare the results, and see how many i have after i delete em.
Thanks for all of your positive support!

That is only an OBDII scanner. It will read certain errors pertaining to typical errors and generic OBDII codes. It will not read any dealer or hidden codes that a dealer might see.

If this works it will be well worth the $110. I would love to find something even cheaper than the BT tool.

the actron will read and clear generic OBDII codes. it cant read or clear bmw extended codes.
if you're looking to read fuel pump codes, tuner codes, etc, the actron will not do the job.

I have a canobd2 model 3030. It specifically states in its user manual:

This is a ~$90 (street price) model.

I've only used this on: my old Toyota and a couple of friends' 330ci's.
I have no idea if it really erased hidden codes...
