Not sure why everyone just pins this win to Kobe's assists. There's so many other things going on the past 2 games that we didn't really do before. The biggest one was defense. We usually don't play any defense. The past 2 games we played defense. We had a lot less instances where players just look at each other confused, trying to blame someone. We tried to develop a defensive system. I think I've said this too many times in this thread so I'll just leave it at that.

Also, Kobe played pretty similar to his other (first half)games. It's only when the team underachieves, then he decides to play "Kobe ball". What's different this game is other players are actually shooting better. Take Metta for example. His looks the past 2 games are pretty similar to his other games. It can be because of confidence, rhythm, or something else; but I don't think it's because Kobe passed him the ball, so he got the shot in.

With that said, I do notice that Kobe stopped pulling up those 3s early in the shot clock, which is good. Kobe playing point guard seems to work better than Nash, too. I guess these recent changes are helping the team as of now.

13 TO per game would be amazing. That would rank them in the Top 4 fewest TO per game. Right now they are on the bottom 4 with 15.4 per game.

Single digits would be much more preferable.

Lakers win again, beating the Hornets, 111-106.

Kobe with 11 assists (his third straight double digit assist game) and six Lakers scoring in double digits.

The Lakers did blow an 18-point lead in the 4th and had another lousy FT (21-33) and turnover-laden (14) game... But a win is a win.

Look at how smooth the offense is when Kobe isn't randomly jacking up shots. 3 straight in a row. Gasol and Howard getting way more touches and shots

Ball movement is key, but I do wonder how long this 10assist per game for Kobe is going to last. You don't want a stagnant offense where the ball doesn't move, but if you simply look at shot attempts for the main guys, it's still pretty much the same for pau and dwight during kobe's big assist games.

Kobe the facilitator is good, but he still needs to look to shoot first. Down the stretch against the hornets, the offense became stagnant and thought Kobe passed up on some open shots and looked to pass first. Down the stretch against OKC though, he was more aggressive looking for his shot while still being able to get the ball to the open man.

A few things to note is that they had Kobe as facilitator, bringing up the ball regularly in the beginning of the season with the injuries and that ended up tiring him out.

Oh and was watching the clipper game the other night and eric bledsoe came out in the 4th after playing 35 min. Bledsoe in his 3rd year was dead tired.....just puts into perspective the minutes that Kobe has been playing especially when he's asked to guard the opponents top scorer.

Why would they have such a washed up, bad defending and ball hogging offensive minded guard on the other teams best player? Maybe that is the problem, they should put their best guard on the other teams best player.

Maybe all the Kobe hating, stat loving folks can answer that one.

Kobe does not guard the best player on the opposing team. He doesnt guard KD or paul pierce or LBJ or carmelo. Like the guy u quoted said, he guards the best guards..(westbrook,cp3,lawson) And dont get me wrong kobe is very good on individual defense but his team defense and rotations are horrible. Not kobe hatin just statin facts

Your facts are wrong. The guy said "he guards there top scorer"...strike 1. He also does guard those guys. Look at the last Heat game. He absolutely guarded Lebron after MWP....strike 2. The game I watched against OKC he certainly was guarding KD or at least a guy with the number 35 and looked just like KD....strike 3.

Just stating the facts.

You guys know what I meant....."top scorer" being the likes of kyrie irving and jennings when they tried that in that short stretch. It was effective in those games yes, but not in the long term if you're also going to ask Kobe to score and play big minutes.

Maybe it was just another experiment they were trying or to compensate for Nash not being able to keep up with quick point guards, but should not be utilized during the whole game. Maybe in the 4th or in short stretches at best.

BTW, earl clark has given them some options on the defensive end. He has matched up with lebron and KD while also being matched up with smaller players.

Kobe will matchup with lebron and durant from time to time, but not the best option given the size difference. Oh and since Lebron has been mentioned....he could certainly guard the best guy on the other team most nights, but he typically doesn't until the 4th quarter so it doesn't tire him out.

What are you talking about? Kobe does not guard Lebron nor KD. Ron Artest guards both 3/4 of the game. Only reason why Kobe has to guard Lebron or KD is because Lebron or KD guard Kobe so when they run back it is easier to guard the person that guards you. But after a timeout or a deadball, Kobe does not guard Lebron/KD.

And Ja is right. Kobe has good individual defense but terrible transition or team defense.

I would waste time and find all the YouTube video for you. Not worth my while and clearly demonstrates you do not watch lakers games unless it is highlights on Espn. He guards them all the time. They rotate with 3 different guys guarding Lebron and KD. Nice try.

Sounds like all you watch is ESPN highlights. If you watch the whole game you would know ron artest guards KD and Lebron majority of the game.

BTW, Kobe doesn't guard Lebron when they play. He guards Wade.

Did anyone see Kobe rack up that assist even though he had a clear half court/basket? lol

Lakers-Suns tied at 41 at the half... Lakers already have 12 turnovers.

EDIT: Gasol seems to have contracted Howard's FT shooting disease.

EDIT2: Lakers lose to another sub-sub-.500 team, 92-86, thanks in large part to 19 turnovers.

Some things never change.

Absolutely fucking disgusted with the loss tonight. What a pathetic 4th quarter. Our bench looked better out there.

Couldn't stop Beasley, should have doubled him. Kobe went back to Kobe ball to close and couldn't hit an open left handed layup. I also think Metta should have stayed on the bench with the way Jamison was shooting. It makes ZERO sense for Metta to be leading our team in FG attempts with our personnel.

Insult to injury, Dwight goes down. What a nightmare.

Howard hurt, Gasol crying on the bench, another loss. Sound the funeral march.
