E91 V10 and a Mystery E92 M3

source

Quote:
BMW aficionados know that once an M car goes into production that's it, there will not be any technical upgrades during its lifecycle. And since the current M3 was launched two years ago a new one is not expected until at least 2013. So then why is BMW testing an M3 around the Nurburgring in 2009? And why does the subject sport a very basic-looking rear wing, a front bumper splitter and what appears to be a roll cage? A number of ideas are coming up regarding this, including one saying this is a CSL (Coupe Sport Lightweight). It will be remembered that a track-focused lightweight M3 CSL last went on sale with the E46 model. Among others it had a carbon fibre roof, an SMG II transmission, 90-degree fixed front seats and semi-slick tyres. But BMW says a CSL is not on the agenda for the E92. Another possible culprit could be a road going version of the BMW M3 GT4 race car. Audi is availing units of the R8 GT3 to the public and BMW might be doing the same with its racer. The E46 M3 had a Competition Package which was also called the CS in the UK. But most of its makeup was taken from the CSL and so without it such a derivative seems unlikely. What do readers think?"

i hope this isnt a repost

That E91 is amazing, I'm more impressed each time I see it.

Personally, I don't think that's a CSL E92. Nor will we ever see one.

The mystery E92 is a repost. The E91 isn't.

Why not? The V10 is gonna go extinct anyways, so they may as well take advantage of it while it's still available.

My 5 cents

I saw the Manhart V10 E91 at the Tuning Messe in Friedrichshafen this year along with a wicked E92 V10 Version which was really an @sswhipper if you ask me ! The cars are AWESOME to say the least.
As for the E92 M3 spotted on the Northloop just recently I hear or better said read on quite a few forums here in Germany that it is not the hoped for CSL but more likely to be race package that they´re currently testing for customers who might be interested in using the car for 24 hour races or GT runs as the new GT2 made a great start in the ALMS and has now run up 2. place in it´s category of the VLN race on the Nürburgring/ Northloop two weeks ago.

So much so the car was limited to a 8:30 round per lap which is BS! I had my M3 on the loop just a couple a weeks ago on the loop myself and did a round 8:01 BTG !!! and that is with an buttload of extras in the car !!
WTF is it with Audi & Porsche over here ? Can´t keep up with a real competitor or can´t they build real race cars anymore ?? Over here we all know the the M3 GT2 can do an easy 8:11 full lap... very strange.. but that politics for you

If you got the budget for it, I'm pretty sure you can buy a new one off of BMW. If not you could look for totaled M5/6's with healthy engines.
