This is why I know the colors are off, I had to search long and hard to get the right RAL color codes for this:

We got to the track about an hour before the F1 race and were still able to park in that front lot. Paying the silly price for FIA parking just doesn't make sense for me unless you're bringing your P1 or 918.
Seems like my decision has been made in terms of parking. The GF isn't thrilled about my trip to Austin so had to settle for average living arrangements and save the rest to spend on a trip with her ill be staying at the HoJo in San Antonio. Although I will say I'm sorta curious to take the trip down to the border. I've heard mixed reports about New Laredo. Any thoughts anyone?

Anyone else in Turn 12? There should be a mini meet at the event although I'd be in my rental 4banger. I guess I could slap an M badge on it and run to the risk of being photographed and ridiculed on the forum.

It would be cool to set up a BimmerPost F1 fan meetup while we are down there.

That's awesome, you won't be disappointed, T12 was great. This year is a great year to go because it's the last year of the V8s. What I took away from it was the sound, how TV just doesn't pick it up properly. Each car has it's own unique noise and they sound so much smoother than on TV, except the force indias. The force indias sound angry, they have tons of pops and crackles as they downshift and you can feel those noises.

Below is a video I took of a practice session. A force india comes past at the end (about the 1:10 mark) and you can hear how much rougher it sounds than the others.

Last of the V8s!!! It's only a must that one attends. I was hoping they'd come to Jersey this year but ofcourse that ain't happening. So no other choice but to make the investment. I've been to the Baltimore Grand Prix before, I know this experience will blow it out the water.

We parked in the lots adjacent to the track, $20 for Friday and Saturday and $30 for Sunday. Parking Pass prices are ridiculous. We did the free park and ride thing on Saturday, let me just say the $20 was well worth it.

Hi all, this is my first time to Circuit of AMericas. When I went to Montreal in the past, General admission was worth squat, but I hear it may be more than enough here.
Any opinions? I am spending decent coin to fly down, take the missus out to the UT game, and also the F1 race. If general admission gets decent views, I am happy with that.

Thanks in advance for the advice.

I think it'd be worth it as long as you are willing to get there early to claim your spot. We walked around during the practice sessions and took some pics from various spots. These I think are the best GA spots.

Main straight/turn 1. These two pics were taken from roughly the same spot. This looked very crowded on race day.

Exit of turn 1/rundown to turn 2. This seems to be about as close as you can get to the cars. While we were sitting on the grass watching practice this group of assholes came and stood literally 2 feet in front of us.

Turn 11 - This was taken at about 9am on race day and already filling up. If I had GA this is probably where I would go.

Now that I'm Austin bound, I'm wondering if I could get some advice. I would like to take a few good pictures- anyone recommend a good camera to get this done with? not looking to spend an arm and a leg and I'm not a photo junkie. I prob would also use this camera for a few car pics and maybe some pics with the gf, otherwise no other use.

It would be cool to try to meet up somewhere! I'll be over on turn 15. Maybe we can organize something once the race date gets a little closer.
