Yeah, I work at a lexus dealership (I started there at 17) and we've always had "vehicle delivery specialists" which do this exact thing... I was actually one for a year before I was promoted to a salesman a few months ago (I'm 22 now and also go to college full time.) They sent us to technology classes a few times and I honestly know the cars inside and out after all of this- much more then the average salesman so I see that it helps me a huge amount in selling cars also because I'm pretty much just showing them everything in the car and they fall in love with it all by themselves. Besides that, it was a big success for Lexus as well because it takes a huge load off of the salesman- they also get the deliveries all ready, do the paperwork with the customer etc etc. Also, the way they are paid salary and commission (the way Lexus does it atleast) is 2 alternatives- they pay salary plus pay you per delivery (they used to pay 40 per car), but now they pay salary plus 25 per perfect survey you receive from the customer.

This is gonna be the same as an apple store. High school kid with an iPad with a t-shirt says genius and asked they would look it up and come up with NOTHING. This BMW genius stuff gonna be really superficial. Answers u can get by reading the manual.

The genius pilot is already in action in 18 stores in the US and is a great tool for the center to have
I think that's more related to the more technical questions, like the constant discussion of is it ok to use X oil or spark plugs lol.

What's the scope of these Genius'? Will it just be strictly be general information (options, packages, pricing, etc.) or will it go beyond that (doubtful)?

Why bother? Honestly, they wont be any dumber than the dealer, just a waste of time and money. IF you have a problem, search Bimmerpost, i guarantee that you will find the answer, more accurate than any dealer in the world.

No, they will tell you that the M3 runs on V4, not even an Inline 4.

You already can't.

Also I like this idea. Most dealerships that I've been to have been completely unfamiliar with the features and equipment of their products, so having someone whose job it is to know about them sounds very helpful. On that note, I am pretty amused that they had to create a position for this job and that it isn't just expected of the sales advisers.
I hope the wink means you're sarcastic.. You 100% definitely can lol

Salesman is a promotion really? I assume lexus dealership is ok to work for, but usually i'd say that role to sales is demotion haha

Is it just me, or does that sound exactly like, "we're going to replace our shitty high pressure roster of SA's with a newer line up of SA's that will do EXACTLY what the previous SA's SHOULD be doing in the first place....but, we're going to give them a fancy name so our idiot customers think it's new and exiciting and not just a fix for a deficiency."

BMW better fix its own main website first so we can build and price properly the desired vehicle without being confused about packages or accessories that cancel one another. After several complaints and personal inputs from users the wesite is still not up to date.
I truly don't understand why a company of this magnitude is unable to provide a proper tool and proper pictures of each accesory of their cars. Nobody in the whole BMW headquarte does not realize that they loose some money due to the wrong perception of the customer in regards with the packages?
Not to mention customer insatisfaction when they have the surprise that what they tought it will be in their cars is actually different than what they get? Plenty of examples right here on this forum.

Not to mention that (in Canada at least) you can not use a mobile device to "build and price" a BMW vehicle.

We don't need their geniuses. Is easier to fix your website BMW, we are in the 21 century, give us the proper tool, we can read too...

I did not found yet a sales guy that knows their product better than me yet, it is not the first time when I am going to the dealership, and they get confused about my order. Really?
They are lucky that most of us are educated about the product, but a better sales person from a different brand can make a lesser car look like a "more car" than a BMW for many buyers due the lack of knowledge of some BMW employees.

Remember, this is BMW UK Ltd (just retail) for the UK market, not "full fat" BMW HQ where money and investment for this would be diverted away from design and innovation of the cars themselves.

Oh you can take the old one out and put a new one in, sure, but the dealership has to register OEM ones to the car for it to work properly. So no, in a way you can't.

Oh for f*ck's sake, it's cars not apple products. And why can't the salesmen know their products instead of adding another employee to the list?

I can't decide if it's sad or funny that I can go into a dealership, BMW or not, and know more about the cars than every salesman in the whole dealership.

What? And get called idiots by some forum members or void their warranty. I've seen it happen, not everyone on here is cool.
