Question What gearbox in 320d manual?

I'm hoping to draw on the endless knowledge of e90posts wonderful members

Can anyone tell me what gear box is in my 2008 e92 320d? being manual, is it the same as in the 325d and 330d?

Im considering a remap and just interested in tolerances etc. I've heard of plenty of successful remaps with no issues but knowledge is power as they say

Cheers

I may have just answered part of my own question.

from real oem, seems is a GS6-37DZ where as the 330d and even the 123d have a GS6-53DZ.

Next question is what do the numbers mean? I read on another forum that the "37" relates to the max torque so 370Nm for the 320d and 530Nm for the 123d and 330d

Can anyone confirm/correct me on this?

I would be interested to know this as well. I would imagine that the clutch is the weak point though??

A 2008 320d would have the 177bhp engine with around 350nm as standard so I can't believe BMW would fit a gearbox that will only cope with that amount of torque as a limit...

The transmission may be tweaked for BMW like the N54 6AT. That can only do 450Nm yet people are pushing over 600Nm

I'm speaking with emaps to see how they come up with their tolerances. hopefully they have a good answer for me.

I just dont want to get it done then something to f*#k up because i'm enjoying the new power too much and end up with a huge bill to sort it. Basically trying to prove to myself that its ok to do it.

realoem has some code after it. Maybe it is slightly upgraded?

Speaking from driving a 119,000 mile 160hp 320d se that I picked up around 18 months ago, I got it remapped instantly by emaps and its just ticked over 150,000 miles with no issues what so ever with the clutch or gearbox.

Do it, do it now !!!!
