$10,000 Car Wax? Really?

Sorry if this is a re-post. I just came across it. Crazy.

Seen this before, it's from Fifth Gear, but:

One bucket wash? Doing wheels after wash? Bit aggressive on the towel dry? Dunno, my initial thoughts on seeing the clip was that we have better detailers around these forums and Autopia.

Not discounting the guy's abilities though. Clearly he must be very good to be working on all those high end cars, and it's quite possible Fifth Gear production wanted him to simplify the process as much as possible. But I'm not blown away based on that clip alone.

I agree. He was doing some questionable stuff. Washing out in the straight sun, wheels after he dried the car, one bucket??? Wonder how he got all those clients. His daddy probably owns all those cars. j/k

Come on, Paul Dalton, is probably the most famous and popular guy in the detailing industry. He does have many write-ups in other website. I bet after reading his threads, people who were skeptical should start to love him!!!

after he pressure washes and foams the car, he can wash with one bucket because most of the dirt is gone. also, the water he uses doesn't leave any spots, so he can wash in the sun as much as he wants. the paint stays safe

this guy is flown around the world to detail cars, and he could be the best detailer in the world!

guys its a video that's been cut down and edited, Paul wasn't happy about the edit but he did get a ton of press from it.

he's flown everywhere around the world to do cars, his typically detail runs into 8 hours and goes on to days.

Here take a look at the newest one he did for the Goodwood event in Europe

Good for that guy, but honestly, what does he do that's so much better than some of the pros here and on Autopia, that it's worth flying him in? Or is it just one of those rich-person things, where they can say they had a "Paul Dalton detail"?

Clever advertising/marketing, he made a name for himself and is reaping the rewards. He's very skilled, but there are many that are just as skilled, and they're even more helpful by offering advice to others looking to refine their skills, Todd Helmes(sp) especially comes to mind.
