BMW 335i vs. Audi S5
Since this is older, it's probably a re-post, however I thought that this was a great video to show just how good BMWs really are wrt to handling.
Enjoy! |

great...even better its only a 335i and its still beats S5 on the track...wow...but in straight line I think S5 would be faster like on autobahn , both cars are great

Guys,
This has been discussed to death and as a S5 owner I know that on this occasion the 335i won (by the nearest of margins) but on the public roads an Audi S5 will walk it with ease. No audi with the exception of the R8 really performs well on the track, the RS4 got closer than most with it's weight balance but where the Quattro scores big-time is on the road, they stay tidier at 8/10th and with their added traction out of corners they can make gains down the next straight that the 335i will never get back. Sure for involvement and enjoyment the 335i wins and this has and will continue to be a problem for Audi but in it's defence it's efficiency is part of it's attraction and distraction, at times I wished it's grip wasn't so absolute. |

The problem with quattro is that it saps so much power. I remember reading somewhere that the RS4, although it is rated at 420hp, only puts like 320 down at the wheels.

Either way you can't deny the fact that an equal PTW rwd car (CSL) couldn't pull away from the RS4. Maybe it's the extra torque of the RS4 over the wider rev range that might be aiding it and if the CSL had more itself the result could have been different. But I feel people read too much into dyno figures and not enough real life results. Quote:

Yeah I really everything in the S5 besides the price. For the price I would grab a M3. If I could read the lips of a girl in the passenger seat of a RSX-type S saying to her friend "oh my god I want that car" As I drive by them, I'm sure the S5 would be a bigger magnet

i get whip lash trying to look at s5's going the other way....absolutely GORGEOUS cars, but a pretty penny, esp if you're having trouble keeping up with the payments on a 45K car plus gas...i'd hate to see your gas bill on an s5.

The S5 is a phenomenally good looking vehicle. If it had the 335s powertrain, I would own 4 by now

Sick vid. The S5 is amazing. My question is: Was that really her driving in the race shots?

I drove the S5, and while it is quick, at around town speeds, the steering is way too light.
It really is a beauty, both inside and outside, and really puts pressure on the guys from Bavaria to make the best car possible. |
