Speakers made crazy sounds, then stopped, now only work when it rains

I have a 2008 328xi E91. A few months ago, on a rain day, my speakers started making crazy noises. Then after a few days of that, they totally stopped working. This included all of the sounds my car makes. Door alarm, backup beep, radio, etc. I did a little research and all indicators point to a bad amp. I did not (and still have not) fixed it. On another rainy day a few weeks after they stopped working, they started working again, perfectly fine. Since then, the speakers only work on rain days. Any suggestion?

Check for trunk leaks. Remove the carpet and see what you can find, particularly around the tail lights.

I also do have a funky smell I can not get to the bottom of. So a leak would make sense. Thanks

Maybe the amp in the trunk came in contact with water, so a leak like suggested above would make sense. Check all of the trunk seals, etc.

Sounds like a for sure leak! I would think the amp is losing ground from water damage then when it rains the water is connecting the ground current back so it starts working!
