That was fun lol

I"ve toyed with the idea of buying out. I blew a ton of money on my nitro RC car a few years ago and promised not to go through that again..despite how much fun this looks.

If you end up wanting to drop the nano, post it up on the classifieds on rcgroups forums and you'll get a bite really quickly. Good go-to for selling and buying used RC stuff.
Not looking to dump it. Much better at flying after a few flights a day. Got two extra batteries for $18, so it's nice to get in at least 3 flights an evening.

Figured out that the transmitter has 2 rate modes. So i put it in the low rate mode and the control sensitivity and max input is cut by about 30%. This helped a lot at first.

I just started flying from one counter top to another and back again. Then waling behind it and flying in and out of rooms. I'm still no good, but i'm much better than i was on Tuesday.

The rudder control is about the only thing that is really similar but i never used the rudder too much on my foamy and the flying wing doesn't have one.

Also, I'm defiantly using too heavy throttle adjustments to maintain consistent altitude. And when ever i start to get in trouble my instincts are to go max throttle and pull back on the elevator. No bueno for multi rotor flight.

The dog is NOT a fan of the Nano.
Similar experience with mine, I picked mine up shortly after you. More difficult to fly than I thought. Glad I didn't drop money on an expensive rig before giving this a shot. Need to practice more to get a hang of this.

And you're right...my dog goes crazy. She tries to grab it when I crash land.

It certainly is a practice thing. The more that you fly them, the easier that everything becomes. The biggest thing is actually getting used to what direction is forward at all times, though that comes with time as well.

My buddy and I both have 550s and a few Phantoms and we tried to get some interesting angles of us shooting the other day. Unfortunately, due to stupidity, none of the GoPros that were "recording" actually had a memory card in them. So much for that idea... The tannerite shot would have been pretty cool from about 20 feet away too...

Something tells me that a larger, GPS stabilized version would be somewhat easier to fly. Especially with a different radio where you can set up your rates of input. My dog actually grabbed it on Sunday and now one of the motors isn't working correctly. Amazon prime to the rescue, new motor was just delivered.

Until this past weekend i hadn't taken it out side. After i did, i'm much more confident with it. Was having issues landing on counter tops at first, now i'm landing on iPads and flying under coffee tables.

I wonder if all my instinct will be gone for fixed wing flight??

I would love to try flying a phantom. I've gotten really good with my F450 and F550, and time to sell them. If anyone is interested, the F550 comes fully built with a controller and everything for $1800 and the F450 has everything needed but a controller for $250. Both come with flight controllers and batteries.

Are you willing to sell the 550 without the Gopro? I've already got a 3Blk.

I've been looking at these for some time already and I think I finally would like to pick one up. I am thinking about entry level models, perhaps the Phantom 2 Vision or just the Phantom 2 with a go pro. Just some questions. How steep is the learning curve? My only quad rotor experience is the AR Drone. That's really easy to fly. Other than that, I can fly a tiny coaxial with reasonable control, but I'm not good with single rotors as I'm still trying to adjust to the secondary effects. Will I be able to deal with the phantom or am I gonna ruin it in minutes? Are there other products that I should be looking at? Will I by flying by looking at a screen or will I be flying via visual contact?

Opinions, I bought my gopro already but haven't pulled the trigger yet. I have little to no experience with multirotors, I do have rc car experience tho. I was looking at either the phantom 2 with gimble or the f550 set with gimble. which would be the best for a beginner? I know flight time Is a lot less with the f550 depending on what battery your running. thanks

Oh definitely. I usually never post the keychain cam videos because of that.
I wanted to get fpv setup before getting a stabilizer so i have more practice.
Anyone ??? F550 or phantom 2 for a beginner With little to no flight experience but Rc car experience

Tough spot, it all depends on how fast you're going to learn. The first thing I learned on was an F450 with no payload, and then moved onto the F550, flew it for a few days (literally) then sold it to Joe here in this thread, and now flying a fully built heavy lift Cinestar 8 for full blown aerial photography and cinematography, all this within a span of a month.

I would suggest phantom 2. You'll get an easier platform to learn on, a transmitter that comes with the kit, and for less than $200 you can pickup a brushless gimbal for the gopro and be in the air for less than the F550. Chances are, you will crash or hard land, and it's nicer to know that the Phantom costs less than the F550 and will provide you with the same footage regardless.

If I were in your shoes, I would buy a used DJI F450, pick up a transmitter/receiver of your choice, then learn to fly on the F450 using manual mode. When you're comfortable flying, go ahead and pickup either a Phantom 2 or F550.

I went to my local shop today and flew both the phantom 2 and the f550. I loved how the f550 was a lot more steady in the wind, and i ended up picking the package up with the zenmuse gimbal

I'm back from a ban vacation.
I recommend anyone wanting to get in to multirotors to get a cheap >$100 one to practice with first. There are a few mentioned a few posts up.
They make great trainers and if you can fly those you can handle a big expensive one no problem.

Mini-quads get caught in wind and fly away haha I've seen it happen to a buddy of mine trying to learn on a blade 350qx.

It's incredibly addicting lol
I just wasted the rest of my day.

Going to get into this -- would you buy the Hubsan 6axis or WL v959?
