I ordered Pure Metal Silver on my new M5. It was $10,000. My car is on a ship on it's way here. Should be here before Christmas and I will post pics. I am actually going to the LA Auto Show today. I think they have an X5 M in Pure Metal Silver. The cost is relative. It's an expensive car and I am leasing it, so I don't think it's a big deal. If I was concerned about the money I probably wouldn't be getting an M5. With regards to scratches and repairs, I am also not that concerned. My cars are meticulously maintained but I expect a few rock chips, they are unavoidable. Like I said it is a lease and I will drive it and enjoy it and eventually trade it in and get a new one.

Great looking color, but hard to justify the price. I'm sure it looks really nice on the 5/6/7 series but 10k is steep.

It is not really expensive; is really rare. Total different.
And is beautiful.

I personally love it! And I would buy it in a heart beat. The problem is not me, but the bunch of ignorants that are on the road too. And I would go over that too, but the majority of paint shops are not capable of matching basic colors, how can you leave a such toy in their hands?

I would love to polish the paint and then give a permanent coating to preserve its awesomeness.

I understand wanting to go for the Individual Program....I think some of the colors are really great, but honestly this just looks like another silver to me.

I'm sure this is something you would have to see in person - in pictures it just looks like another silver paint. Perhaps it's a very small difference but to somebody who can see it, it doesn't matter what it costs if it makes the car feel special to them. It's all about the details.

This information is very interesting. Personally I'm willing to spend the money for this unique and special paint, and on my next car purchase of this color.

If you like a brand, a model, but because it's good many like it, Individual is the way to go! Chances to see another one like yours are minimum!

+1

I mean, if you're going whole hog, just have them paint it a non-BMW color all together. This silver is exceptionally lame. Maybe it works better in person...

i am not really that impressed with the color. IMO a frozen black or white is better looking, and has a bigger statement.

My luck would be that a minor fender bender would occur and the car would never look right again.

Extremely valid point. The quality of their paint is a joke. $10k for orange peel is a crime.

I love the colors and applaud those who can afford this upgrade. Just disappointed in BMWs poor quality.

I would have paid a little extra just to get rid of the orange peel and trash in my Alpine White paint job that came standard on my car from the Regensburg plant.

I agree with those that wouldn't want the silver color shown above due to the difficulty matching it during a repair. I did see a pretty cool M5 Individual painted Ferrari Red that I really liked:

I was going to mention this, it's disgusting that the price of this car buys you orange peel paint. I was hoping the intense and personal attention involved in this process would eliminate that.
The orange peel shit definitely needs to be addressed. I can't beleive you guys accept delivery without killing someone. When my jag showed up I examined it for about 2 hours before I said ok looks satisfactory lol.
