Looks like you guys lucked out. Both Stafford and Hill are injured, so you'll be facing Stanton as our QB. The guy couldn't throw a tennis ball through a hula-hoop from 3 feet away if his life depended on it...

We need an O line. No team should have to deal with so many injuries at the QB level, and the successful teams almost never have to deal with even Level 1 of this shit.

Idk about lucked out. I think the Eagle's game was pretty convincing. I would have the Bears to beat the Lions this week at any strength

Dunno about that. The Lions have played very convincingly against much better teams than the Bears, except for the "breaking point" in the second half where the Lions become the Lions and unravel. They've shown they can hang with much better teams than the Bears, provided they don't beat themselves.

Don't forget, the Lions wouldn't still be setting the record for consecutive road losses if it wasn't for the ridiculously puzzling, most counter-intuitive, and micromanaged call I've ever seen on Calvin's catch. For a team who was lucky to walk away with a win when you played us at home (with most of our game being played by our backup QB anyway), I wouldn't have been confident of anything against the Lions this weekend in Detroit. However, because Stanton's going to play, you guys should only now rest easy.

You base the Lions's latest performance on scores alone I assume? I guess you would have to watch the game to understand at which strength they're playing before having one or two dumbasses have "Lion Moments" which cause everything to unravel.... If they play against the Bears like they did against the Pats (whole different league than Chicago) for most of the game, or the Jets (also definitely head and shoulders better than the Bears), or the Cowboys (who are actually not playing bad under Garett), but this time have no late meltdowns, a victory would be virtually guaranteed for Detroit. But there's no way that's happening with Stanton. The guy is probably the worst player on any roster in the NFL. Not only that, but he probably can't even play the whole game, because our O line can't keep a QB from getting injured ever.... Who would we put in then? McCown? O'Sullivan? Only other QB we have ATM is Zac Robinson and we're looking at those two other homers I mentioned, but no matter what, if our best case scenario is Stanton, the game shouldn't even be close.

Anyway, not trying to bust your balls or ruin your Bears thread or anything. Just really disappointed that we won't see a good game this weekend. It could have been great.

But consider this.... Stanton is so bad that Detroit would rather play their second string QB only two weeks after getting pins and plates put into his broken forearm... and Stanton was 100% healthy....

That is how bad Drew Stanton is. We will see this weekend. This won't even be a contest now.

The Lions won their first game against the Bears IMO. But that's moot, and I feel the Bears have improved to a higher level than the Lions have throughout the season. Take this from a Bears dissenter, I thought they would suck but had them at 8-8 based on their schedule. I'll always like to watch a good game - I have not based my opinion solely on scores. The Lions sucked last year, so did the Bears. They have both improved tremendously, but considering the first game was pretty even (and the Bears should've lost) the Bears have outplayed my expectations much more than the Lions have.

O HAI Megatron.

You guys will still win though. Smith and Spievey still have to take the field on defense. Perhaps the worst tandem of corner/safety on one side of any defense in the league.

No way you should lose to a Lions team without Vanden Bosch, Stanton/Hill, and Hanson (our perpetual MVP, except for the years Barry was there where he was simply the second best player on the team).

EDIT: And there it was... The series that the Lions show they are still the Lions.... Up by 3, force and recover a fumble inside the Bears 10, and we only get a field goal. Once again a chance in the second half to really throw a tough punch, only to come up lame. The ball didn't see the end zone once in that series, which is absolutely inexcusable. No killer instinct from O Coordinater Linehan again. It's becoming a theme.

You're honestly going to tell me that hit was meant to tackle and not to hurt?

looked a bit on the malicious side... if your gonna hit someone hit um, not slap um in the back of the head. Besides, why is he "pushing" him forward? I thought the object on defense was to limit yardage?

Is that the excuse bear fans are using?

I agree the Lions put up a good fight. But there is a reason they are rated so poorly against Defenses. They turn the ball over, a lot.

Come on man. You're telling me that hit didn't warrant a penalty? Straight shot to the head?

I think you'd have a point.... If Suh's initial contact was even to the head, which it wasn't. You can clearly see it in the replay that if Suh did touch Cutler's head, it was as a result of his hand sliding up from the initial contact on the shoulder pads and collar area. Hochuli even offered his specific reasoning for the call as a forearm hit, which it wasn't. Also to the head, which it wasn't. Suh is a beast, so yeah, the push did have quite an impact on Cutler's body. What should he have done? Hugged him real gently and whispered sweet nothings into his ear? Maybe make him breakfast the next morning? Ask him to please stop running?

I understand how the call was missed in real time. That happens. However, after seeing the replay I guess Suh is just a victim of his own strength. Sure, he didn't have the purest intentions pushing him down like that, but c'mon, how many of the best defensive players in the history of the game (and even in the game ATM) had "good intentions" when lining up to hit an offensive player? And how many offensive players go after their objective with non-malicious intentions? I don't think he was trying to hurt Cutler; I think he was being a physical, aggressive player. He just pushed him so damn hard that it looked like Cutler got hit by a damn bus from behind. You can play aggressively and "mean" without trying to hurt the other guy, and still be within the bounds of the rules set by the NFL.

It wouldn't have made a difference in the outcome of the game. The Lions secondary was being the secondary again, and their offensive gameplan had long since gone into "turtle mode", so whether it affected the outcome of the game is a moot point. Chicago would have scored a TD on that drive anyway. Detroit lost when they failed to put the ball in the endzone after recovering the ball at the Chicago 9.

No, his hand hit first on the back of Cutler's collar and then followed through to the head. Initial contact of neither hand was to Cutler's head. If you take a look real closely around 1:03, you'll see that Cutler's name itself has moved up significantly towards his helmet. This wouldn't have happened unless Suh's hand had initially made solid contact below Cutler's helmet.

Also, more physics.... What happens to Cutler's head on contact? It snaps back. If Suh's hand had hit Cutler in the back of the head, above the neck, the head would have had the initial reaction of moving towards the turf, away from Suh. It's clear this didn't happen.

No bitching here. You see what you see, and that's fine. You're free to think whatever you want. Just agree to disagree.

#1 you can't much of where he hits him from the angle they give you at 1:03...
#2 his head moves a little in both directions but he is falling forward and being pushed down at the same time, your head would snap back from being pushed down but forward from being pushed in the head however he's not hit in the top of the head but closer to the bottom of the helmet, almost his neck... not gonna cause as much of a forward motion jerk as you think it might.

Bottom line is he's a rookie and if he's gonna hit someone like that he should know to do it square in the back and no where near the head if he wants to avoid those kinds of calls, whether he's guilty or not, though it looks like it was close enough to call it on this play.
