Issues with creating playlists on USB
First up, hey guys... new to BMW's & to the forum so a quick hello.
Background info, I have a 08 320i M Sport E92 with 6FL, Pro HU & Base Audio. My question is regarding playlists onto a USB drive. Im writing everything on a Mac which seemingly it doesn't like as textedit m3u files would not work at all, whilst text wrangler written files do as they are in the correct code format (i.e. windows). So far so good on that part, however one issue I cannot get around is I am suffering from playlist duplication. Whenever I create a new playlist, i.e. "Chase_And_Status_-_No_More_Idols.m3u" I only have one m3u file on the USB stick (plus the audio files in a structured folder layout). However once I plug it into the 6FL, the head unit shows two playlists. Underneath is a correctly named one which works flawlessly & the first one being a playlist with the same name, preceded by "_.". This duplicate shows as "list empty" and thus does not work. Problem here is that they appear first, so if I have say 30 playlists, I have actually 60 on the HU and have to scroll down 30 before I reach any working ones which as you can imagine is annoying. An example of how my playlists are wrote is below, and is written in windows CRLF for line spacing & UTF-8 for encoding. " Music\Chase_And_Status\No_More_Idols\01-No_Problem.mp3 Music\Chase_And_Status\No_More_Idols\02-Fire_In_Your Eyes.mp3 " Aside from this, and a one appearing yellow empty check engine light (Which ill have a punt at will be coil/injector/spark related on my 12 day old AUC), the car has been great. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated |

itunes export is a handy utility
That will export your playlists directly to usb. I am using it of a PC but you should see if it will work for you. http://www.ericdaugherty.com/dev/itunesexport/ |

Handy indeed as it works!, nice one & cheers for that.
Bizzare however is reading the playlists created by it, they are written and coded identically to the ones I was making before, yet these show no duplication. |

I don't like the newer version of itunes.
It hides to much and trys to steer you to what it wants not what you want. Also to burn cd's you always had to make and mp3 file first because it wouldn't burn any other format to disk. I wonder if you had to versions of your file and it just copyied anything that has the same name thus duplicating the files on the usb stick. |
