E92 320D retrofit with bluetooth?
Hi folks
There's many threads in the Internet about this but I can't seem to figure out what's required to get BT working in my car. This is what I have: S1CAA - Selection of COP relevant vehicles S663A - BMW Professional Radio S694A - Provisions for BMW 6 CD changer S8SPA - Control unit COP I'm not sure what's relevant of the above. Does anyone know what exactly I need to buy and wire in to get bluetooth working? Or do I need to do some more research on what's in the car? Many thanks |

S663A - BMW Professional Radio?
is that a head unit only or idrive. Europe called widescreen idrive, professional and it gets confusing with USA... and I'm guessing yours is just around the time they moved from a non idrive headunit that can do bt and usb audio built in to the older one where it has modules in the boot linked up with a fibre optic MOST circuit 3 separate modules can go in the boot (where the spare wheel should have been !!!) and give BT old TUC better MULF 2 HI (can do BT & USB) best COMBOX (does BT, USB, audio streaming and internet) on non idrive cars might be best to (either enable if it can be on your hardware) or replace head unit with a modern one that does it all any way you want to play u need an expert to so all the software tweaks (and wiring)... go find a local hero and see what he says |

Hi, Correct it's the non-iDrive. So looks like I need to find a MULF 2 HI module and some wiring? |

Does anybody know if a combox will go in against and pre 09 pro radio . I have heard no but seen some threads that claim its been done. the guy in the following thread may be able to help you. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=704363 Based on the above thread I would ditch the business radio no matter what you do. |

both those have been tweaked.... as std the hardware is there but not all features are enabled... as both adds say they have both had all the features enabled and are ready to go... plug and play... word of warning nothing is straight forward they maybe ready to go but is your car ??? it looks good from coding perspective (so long as you don't have MOST setup in your car) the BT microphone sits in the light unit by the mirror and quite likely its not there and likely wont have the wiring... the mic's cheap and the wiring quite easy to make, it runs up left a pillar... and there's loads of room to get across without touching the head lining not sure about BT antenna (I guess it has external like all the other ones) if so they are really cheap but getting a right angled fakra connector on the right wires used to be a nightmare but I just saw they are on ebay at last... bmw dealers will have mic, antenna and the pins in stock Fakra-crimp-Jack-Right-angle-connector-Waterblue- Last edited by BOTUS; 11-09-2014 at 12:08 PM.. |

1) there was a recent post with two guys arguing about it... one said no another said they did a limited run in that configuration. but the point was even if BM did a few that way... its not going to add a lot to a user as how can he navigate around the additional features a combox would bring? my guess, before they did a pro headunit with it all built in they had a few old units lying about and did BT and USB via combox to clear the stock of old head units then moved the game on 2) pretty sure you can fit combox on older Masks and CCC setups, before I got a mic and had my MULF coded to add BT, a guy wanted to fit combox instead |

I have a TCU in an 06

Its a pro radio with Most of course. I don't have USB or A2DP. USB would probably be enough. I am wondering if a Mulf 2 or a combox would work . Technic has said no combox with pro radio. Also there is some confusion on my part about mulf2. Since there is a Mulf2 hi and a Mulf 2 low. If I wanted USB do I add Mulf 2 high or pull the TCU and replace it with Mulf 2 Hi . Do I need extra cabling beside the USB Cable. I have SOS and bluetooth phone but no subscription to SOS. I have seen quite a few Mulf2's on Ebay lately for around 200 bucks. |

What do I need to change in the roof electronics? If I understand things correctly I would need the radio with BT/USB from eBay, wiring for the USB/AUX port, a microphone + wiring for the BT. Btw does this radio do A2DP or just phone calls? |

Radio does USB usb/ipod HD radio and phone

No OEM A2DP without combox. (unless something has changed) In some ways its easier or go aftermarket to get all of these. Plus with aftermarket you are now getting an equalizer and time alignment in most of the better head units. Some aftermarket side effects are SOS error and BMW can't update or run diags on your car without the original unit installed. |

its a few metres of mic cable that's about 10 quid max, there nothing clever up there search about a bit more you'll find videos on youtube of people doing themselves the wiring kit for the mulf in the boot is available at special order from Germany at £293 as of dec 2013... breakers don't let you near any cars that have it as they do deals with the retrofit boys to get them all |

you can run a TCU and MULF 2 Hi together (some cars came that way in Europe)... but little point there are posts where they swap out the TCU for the MULF, you need the MULF Multiplug (not sure where from but easy to get I gather. I guess its from BM) and you can then pretty much use the TCU wiring.... in your case there's one pin to rewire behind the glove box to get the mic to behave... can do all the work and see what happens, if no one hears you that's why no idea what a older MULF did, you want the 2 HI maybe the older one only did Europe spec BT and the later adds USB audio I'm not an expert by any means... edit: So for A2DP I'd need MULF + the BT headunit + wiring for all? If there are any good dual DIN after market headunits which does all this then maybe it's worth going that way? |

This doesn't look too bad. If it does bluetooth phone, A2DP, keeps the chimes + PDC sound and all controls work with the buttons on the steering wheel then why not this:

You don't need the wiring, roof electroincs etc. that's only needed when you've an i-drive.

combox is the only way to get OEM a2dp
combox is the only way to get OEM a2dp
and its still not possible with the radio(as opposed to idrive) as far as I know. Bimmertech would needs to qualify this. There are so many versions of the TCU and Mulf this becomes quite confusing. Last edited by ctuna; 11-09-2014 at 03:03 PM.. |

There are major threads on it here. Also it interfaces with the rest of the car pretty nicely. |

How did they miss that (A2DP)
How did they miss that (A2DP)
Its such a common feature along with HD radio. I would go with and Alpine or Pioneer before I would go with one of the clones. Some how I thought the Dynavin had A2DP. |
