Note to Mazda: thanks for all the help & support when we were racing the IMSA GTU RX-7, especially the 17 grand just to show up at a race...and don't forget all the parts, engines, trans, diffs, and that big tractor trailer, too....just one question, though....why did you replace this beauty with the RX-8???

Probably because even the RX-8 with its 30,000 mile engine failure intervals is reliable in comparison to the RX-7.

I put over 60,000 miles on mine in less than four years with zero problems. Nothing broke, no squeaks or rattles, and very little visible wear anywhere in the vehicle. Best vehicle I've ever owned in those respects.

That is not the general ownership experience.

Even with my wankel engine hatred, I still secretly want a 20b RX7 weekend car.

I don't conceptually hate the Wankel, but it seems to fail in application outside of ultralite engines.

What are you specifically meaning by ultralite engines?

My friend who just sold hers for a FR-S was on her third engine. Luckily, the first two went out within ownership/parts warranty...barely

Basically the idea is that they are much more suited to being built for one specific RPM such as in aircraft vs variable RPMs like in a car.

Yeah, that's much more the norm. The RX-8 forum has a guide to reducing the chances of engine failure last I checked.

If you could lose that kind of weight though
