Lets see what we can get going by next Friday, March 29th.

Learn more here

Click here to see how we build these differentials in house.

VAC Tips:
-We have run a Quaife ATB HARD in our daily driven and often tracked 135i with absolute success.
-We have sold a ton of these to other 135i and 335i owners with absolutely NO problems.
-The ATB is the most popular unit that we install here at the shop on E8x and E9x platforms.
-Additionally we have installed dozens of Quaife units in platforms other than E8x/E9x and they always perform flawlessly.

Why do you want a Quaife LSD?
Improved acceleration, traction and stability. Rather than using clutch plates as a method of operation, the Quaife ATB uses sets of floating helical cut gear pinions that run in pockets and mesh during normal driving. Should one of the driven wheels start to spin however, the helical gears start to generate a torque bias thanks to the axial and radial thrust of the helical gear pinions in their pockets. The result is a progressive transfer of torque away from the spinning side of the axle to the driven wheel, which is now capable of transmitting a greater proportion of torque. Unlike a plate style LSD the Quaife unit delivers performance without the need for strip downs and rebuilds. There are no plates or gears to wear or break and the ATB units retain standard vehicle lubrication.
  • All QUAIFE differentials come with a life time warranty.
  • Maximizes traction and minimizes wheel spin
  • Proven in drag and circuit racing, rallying and road use
  • Maintenance free design and retains standard axle lubrication
  • Produced from British Steel billets throughout
  • CAD designed and CNC machined then inspected to ISO 9001 standards
  • Used by Ford, GM and Daimler-Chrysler as original equipment

Why VAC?
VAC Performance Rear Differentials are built to last with the highest quality components, procedures, and technical expertise in the industry. We have been building BMW differentials since the 1980s - 2002, E46, E92, street, race - we have done it. We have been building various differentials for the last 40 years, so you can rest assured that the job will be done right the first time. Our BMW differentials are run in countless race series and by hundreds of street customers because our quality and options are unmatched. All is performed in our complete machine shop which ensures top qualify control. We do not have to worry about outsourcing it to a vendor who may or may not do the job properly. There will be no back log. We are proud of our process and we invite anyone to stop by the shop for a tour.

Refunds
-There are NO frivolous refunds on differential orders
-Only replacement of defective, or mis-shipped products are available
-Members cannot change ratios after product is ordered

Cores
The core price is added on top of the 2575.

Inventory

*note: since these are built to order there is an actual build time. We usually deliver in less than 2 weeks.

I am very interested in having this done. What will you do completely for the total price? Rebuild my whole unit, new bearings, seals, axle snap rings, hardware for the side axel covers and pinion nuts etc.? Can I do a billet differential cover as well for the 335d? You mention something above about the gear ratios. I like my gear ratio the way it is cause I can get the car up to 270 kph. Higher speeds I am assuming that I would benefit from a lower ratio correct? Do you offer this? Thanks

I picked up a Quaife LSD with the billet cover (in black) from VAC around this time last year. I installed it myself. VAC was great to work with, and this has been the single best mod I have done on any vehicle I have ever driven.

Do it!

If you are wanting everyone for the group buy to make something happen by this Friday, it would be nice if you responded to our questions.

Check out the 2 links in the original posts. Everything plus more is covered

Billet cover will fit, but I don't have any in stock and they won't be made for a while.

If you want a different ratio, you will have to start with a different core. Like a 3.08 from a 335i. I like the stock ratio for the D, I wouldn't change it.

it's looking that way so far. Honestly, I think it's great that VAC is offering the discount for us and I do appreciate it, but a 3.9% discount typically isn't enough to make most people jump at an opportunity unless they were about to buy anyway. It usually takes at least 10% (if not 20) on a reasonably sized purchase such as this to make people pull the trigger.

We already have the best everyday retail price so these isn't much more room to move down. There is not a lot of profit on these builds so you can save a few hundred bucks or pay the everyday going rate

Completely reasonable. Mike, what's the average cost of getting an LSD installed? I'm seeing a lot of random numbers across the internet. Better yet, what's the most I should be paying?

$225 labor to take your stock final drive out and install the VAC build final drive.

Assuming you are doing just dampers (not M conversion): If all the parts are bought in advance and in hand, we can probably work something out if I schedule it right.

I am in for the group buy and plus the billet diff cover. My differential I would send to you and would want mine back, cause the gear ratio on the euro spec cars I have been told by BMW here are better.

Edit: not trying to quibble, I'm sure there is a reason and I have to be prudent

Most likely because his was bolted on unlike our welded ones for the D and a mix up led to a better deal for him.

It would be a lot cheaper if it was a bolt on.
