I really enjoyed working on my friend's E36

My friend has an E36 M3 and we worked together to change his coolant system and update the intake. I had a blast, the vehicle seems pretty easy to work on and the parts are CHEAP (relatively speaking).

I now am all of a sudden considering an E30 Cabrio or Coupe to add to the stable for it's sheer fun-to-work-on and fun-to-drive value.

I was wondering how many folks out there have older BMWs for the same purpose?

Here's his E36

Hey one of your ae is brigther than the other one, you and your bf had a "moment" together doing his coolant....very cute

I would never let my friend touch my coolant...even if its on a hot summer night after dinner.

I helped a buddy of mine tear down his e36 M3 transmission a couple years back. We were rebuilding it. Fun car. I honestly want an E30 M3 for my work on fun car

I bought an E30 a few years back because I loved the way they looked and I heard they were fun drivers cars (light + RWD = sounds nice). It has been incredible, reliable, and I have done most all the work on it myself in my own garage. I have now spent almost twice what I paid for the car in parts and it drives like a Porsche (er... suspension wise anyway). I say DO IT!

Yes, E30s are fun cars to drive and are extremely straightforward to work on. I say do it!
