I've just read this Paul,

I'd expect to see an elm light on anything above plus 10% as I designed the maps to run at a safe level ( no lights) on zero or plus 10.

Thanks Andrew

Still had no more problems and I've been fully enjoying the summer tyres' grip with full throttle quite a lot of the time I think next winter when I change the wheels back over, I'll just take the box off as the winter rubber obviously can't handle that much torque - lesson learnt!

Nice write up. Sorry to bring this thread back, but i also have a CRD-T box. The box is brilliant. So is the customer service. Only thing that could be improved is the time taken to adjust, but once you find the right map this does not matter.

I find myself alternating between maps 2 and 3, and sticking to +10%. The only time i have had a EML is when I first got it and put it rather eagerly on +30%. Even then the EML only came on on the motorway, accelerating from 70mph+. I noticed driving through normal roads +30% was never a problem in regards to the EML. Oh yeah, and the power was very nice

But I only ever put it on +30% once. Reason being after talking with Andrew i took his advice not to go to +30%. But im just wondering, as i never cleared this exactly with Andrew, if i take it to +30%, and there is no EML, is that still bad?

Great write up Parapaul, I was looking at a tuning box as still under AUC warranty so remap out of the question running a 320d lci just needs a bit more oomph when spooling up low speed and for overtaking. Not sure what the insurance will say.

Run one of these boxes on my 2009 LCI 320D, great piece of kit and support from DTUK is secend to none. Got to put it few some paces when did couple of ring trips and performed perfectly. Ended up running it on a 520D 177 as well when I fitted the PPK on my 320D and again worked a treat. Its a good way of having a easily reversible map and Andrew is a top guy

Right i've not fitted my DTUK box ( CRD-T BOX ) as the weathers CRAP and icey cold so not the best time for checking a new tuning box me finks....

checking the black block postions on my boxes pins the box that i have ( i got it 2nd hand ) is set to map 3 + 20%.

As soon as the weathers better i'll fit it and post results.....s

I believe its just the way the boost comes in and summut to do with the fueling, its probably magic!! Ha ha.

I think 30% would be full boost all @ once and 20% 10% are just watered down version's of that.

I had DTUK box on a previous car and it screwed up all the mpg readings on the BC, do they still do this?

AFAIK, they are good enough to fool the ECU that nothing has changed.
But if you notice brim to brim, then you will see real difference.

Shameful bump! Very interesting thread, has given me a lot to think about

I have a 2012 E92 330d and have been looking at the market for tuning box for it. I have read heaps of reviews regarding some of these tuning boxes only changing the fuel supply so i thought the DTUK system, fuel and boost, seemed better and was more reassured with the above information. Im not interested in bench tuning as i want to be able to revert back to standard if required. Also considering some of the prices, it doesn't seem too bad even with int shipping.

Holmefield, if you see this, would you care to give me an update on how your system is going (Or anyone else with a 330d for that matter).

Thanks!

My car went to dealer last week so had to remove the box.
Car felt boring.
When my car returned, I changed the boost level to 20% on map 3 (it was 10% on map 3) and difference is amazing!
Car feel more agile and responsive.
Has anybody tried map 4?

Im loving it still, most of the time I potter to and from work but theres always room for the odd blast..the car still surprises me if I put my foot down hard.

If im honest MPG HAS stayed the same ( around 37/39 mpg ) the car feels exactly the same until you put your foot down hard, 2nds not that much different but the 3rd and fourth are brilliant the car just feels so much more responsive with the DTUK box on..

So tempting to get this for my 335D. I had one on my previous 320D and the difference was day and night.

Good to hear!

I have just read so many mixed reviews of tuning boxes to these things, some people have no problems, others have heaps. My driving would be like yours, just quiet cruise to and from work most days but want a little extra power when required.

Either way - would much rather have a tuning box that i can remove if i decide i dont like it or want to sell!

Interesting that's what I thought about fuel and boost being better so I asked the RaceChip guys if they were going to do a dual system for the 330D as the RaceChip Pro is fuel only. They said the BMW diesels get their benefit from fuel control and don't need the boost control. They use dual systems for petrol though and would be happy to sell me a dual system for my diesel if I wanted it. In the end I went for the standard RaceChip Pro - a bargain at the moment with the Euro being so low (£180 ish). I've got it set to about +23% at the moment and the car really flies. Mpg is the same, but I expect it will improve slightly as the novelty of flooring it at the least opportunity wears off!
