please make something similar to that M3 version...cuz that looks like OEM Performance diffusor on steroids! I love it so far. Remember...fitment is everything

Any update on this? Hopefully this won't be another one of those development projects that sinks into the sea. I'm actually excited about new diffuser options (for E92 that is).

Thanks for giving the e90 owners a chance to get something as cool as this first for once! Waiting with anticipation!

I've actually been struggling to get hold of the moulder to hear on progress - worst case I'm going to drive to his offices soon! It was 1 week's worth of work 3 weeks ago. Either way I will get this diffuser completed - even if I have to find another moulder! I'll try get an update up on the forum by the end of the week. Thanks for the interest though - just confirms to me that I am onto something here and that I should continue to push to get it done! |

Hi Mike
Not straight away. Plans for now are something along the lines of: 335i Sedan - Dual Single Diffuser 335i Sedan - Quad Diffuser 335i Coupe - Dual Single Diffuser 335i Coupe - Quad Diffuser Whatever I can get to next... The problem I face at the moment is getting hold of cars to develop on. If you're willing to help out - perhaps donate your bumper for a week or so, we can certainly look at getting one done for the e86 as well... |

Speak of the devil...
Ok, so the moulder finally got back to me this morning. Here's an MMS cellphone res teaser pic of the pattern so far. Will be going through to him on Monday morning to have a closer look / comment / change of design. I'll take better pics when I'm there.
I like the look so far - just need to have him make the channels between the fins more concave, rather than convex. I don't want it to have the same shape as the standard M-Sport / M-Tech diffuser. I do want it to be a bit concave - same as the M3 version I'm basing this on. So - more to come shortly! Hope this whet's your appetite for now Comments? Thanks for the comments guys! As I say, seeing the guy on Monday where we should have a finished mould to look at. I'll take some good pics as well and then hopefully within a week or two we'll have the mould ready to manufacture.
I, myself, am hoping for an early Christmas present |

I got this diffuser from Duke Dynamics. It was a struggle to get it on the car and it still doesn’t fit perfectly. I’m definitely interested if the fitment is good.
The diffuser was $450.

looking good.
since you asked for thoughts and comments and no one has really been giving you feedback... i think it could look more aggressive and concave. ...like a real functional diffuser... more sunken in pockets like the m3 one. (a little bit of fin starting from under the car) where the exhaust tips come out also look to be sticking out further than any exhaust systems pipes would be... maybe cut those back a little. If this turns out good ill surely be in the market for one. been looking for an aggressive style diffuser. question: FRP or Carbon? i would love an FRP version for cost purposes. (i dont like spending a lot of money. ) |

Update: 12-13-2010
Hi All
So here's the update for today. The mould is nearly ready and the first prototype piece will be made up soon. A couple changes will be made first:
Once that's done we'll do a prototype piece to ensure the fitment is 100%. Only once the fitment is sorted out will we begin manufacturing. So as much as I'd love to promise we'll be done in this year, I can't really... I'd expect something to be available by early January sometime. As always I'll definitely keep you guys posted as to the progress. From a materials perspective, I've only really given thought to manufacturing out of Carbon Fibre, but will enquire as to whether we can use the same mould for other materials. If so, I can certainly look at doing them out of GRP or something else as well - will post back soon... Otherwise, from my side, thanks for the comments and words of encouragement! |

As I've said before, fitment will be of the utmost importance to me. We should have a prototype part made up pretty soon for testing fitment. We'll then make any changes / adjustments required for fitment and only then start manufacturing. So, yeah - fitment should be OEM or as close to as humanly possible. Will post some pics of the fitment as soon as the final part is made up as well. |
