2014 Formula 1 Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix

The original night race of Formula 1. Singapore has became the Monaco of the Far East. Attracting celebrities, businessmen and even foreign delegates to come to the venue.

Although sometimes its not the most exciting race of the season, but Singapore and FOM had put on a good show since 2008. From what I heard from friends who went there, Singapore organizers knows how to throw a party and concert to entertain the crowd.

Do we have any track that does not suit Mercedes? Besides the races that Hamilton and Rosberg trip over each other. They dominate all races. Except mechanical issues, that's an all around juggernaut car! That suits all high downforce twisty circuits and of course power dominant circuits.

Singapore is a long and slow circuit, where there's a decent chance of safety car. With the time limit, we might not be able to complete the entire 61 laps if SC needed accidents occurs. And yet, we haven't got a night-rain race ever since Singapore debut in 2008.

With the rumoured pressure on Vettel to perform since RIC wants no. 1 status in the team and this being one of their best tracks of the year it should be interresting even without mentioning the Benz fight.

Maybe Nico should sit this one out and they can have Pascal Wehrlein drive for the race lol

I hope not. I'd say this is the most glamorus track in Asia, but hardly the best.
The best? Spa? Suzuka?

At least they finally removed the "Singapore sling triple corner" last year. Thank GOD!

I think you misunderstood. Here's hopefully a more clear wording:

One of the tracks that best suits Red Bull since it's a track that favours high down force and not primarily a track that favours top speed. Red Bull has arguably one of, if not the best chassi and when they can put a wing large enough and not be punished by losing top speed on many top speed sections they can be very competetive.

I might see RBR being second or third best team now.
Singapore is a track about Break, turn, squirt throttle, where the layout doesn't have much sweeps and elevation change. Mostly 90 degrees corners. Overtaking depends on how good cars getting out of the corner with good rear traction and straight line speed.

OK clear now! Really wrong wording...

Honestly I am not a fan of RB and specially Vettel. I am quite glad he is not doing well. Finally we can really see his driving skills. It was easy to get 4 world championships with the best car by a mile, and bad team mate.
Kind of reminds me of Jacques Villeneuve, they are in the same league of driving skills compared to some really good drivers. Luckily Jacques managed to get only 1 championship...

I love F1 and it's mid-season rule changes. Now they're regulating what you can and can't say over the radio to your driver?!?!?! Are we sure Mad Max isn't still running the FIA?

So is complaining that your teammate hit you permitted or not permitted?

Pretty sure you're joking but yeah they can do that still.
Drivers can't (*ahem Nico*) ask the pit to "tell them how to drive".

That has over done, F1 has become a "nanny-state". Why dont the FIA just remove all radio then? Like in the 60s and 70s.

Does this mean F1 is no longer a "team-sport"? Driver is almost on his own out on the track.

Yes I hate when drivers ask "tell me how to drive?" Because that's what the teams paid big bucks (or drivers pay the team in some cases ) for their employment. But as complex as current F1 cars are, optimizing settings during race is quite difficult.

Some warnings like "brake temperature" could be leading to a dangerous path if not warn ahead. Brake failure as we saw from Canada could lead to retirements or if complete disintegrate like Webber did in 2009 and crash out.

If FIA wants to police radio transmission. How about some pre-recorded messages and only let teams choose and play when needed. Since they pretty much silenced the entire pitwall.

There will inevitably be some blowback from this decision. I just hope no one gets hurt.
I do agree with and like the idea of not using the pit as a crutch

I first thought the "permitted" list was part of the banned messages and thought, yeah this is good but now when I realized all of it is permitted, it's just meh. Nothing major.

I would have preferred if they permitted safety information ( flags, safety car, puncture etc ) but banned the rest.

I think this is good for the F1. Let the drivers drive. It got to much computer controlled and all that shit.
