Cool downpipes good gains, ecu and stuff

Ok here it goes guys, bare with me now
I know nothing about performance modifications.
But I am trying to get your help on what mods I should to for the best performance gains for the buck w/o harming the engine/car. (if possible I would like to keep the car's life to a nice logetivity)

I've been researching and from what I have learned I know I will be purchasing an ecu tune but was also hoping to do an exhaust or downpipes for some gain or sound. I like the idea of downpipes because I hear they give modest gains.

My question is what would you guys recommend I do. Any brands? Will it give me error codes? Anything I should know about considering my position? What do I need to do exactly? I dont know anything about catalystic converters or what catless means or any of that stuff so any input would be appreciated

Thanks
-Eamon

If Engine life is your biggest concern than don't tune or modify it. Any mod or tune will cause the engine to wear faster than a car running at stock boost levels.

Your about to get rapped by people on this forum because you didn't search.

Basically a few options for ecu tune: procede, Cobb, jb4 and active.

I listed those from best to last in the order I would run on my 335.

Currently running procede v4

Good luck

Tunes: JB4, Procede v5, Cobb AP, Active Autowerke, ect, ect.

Downpipes : AR Design 3'' N54 Downpipes (Catless), Active Autowerke N54 3'' Catless Downpipes, CP-E downpipes, ect

Front Mount Intercoolers: Helix Stepped FMIC, HPF FMIC, Big Tom FMIC, AMS FMIC, Spearco FMIC, CPE FMIC with built in oil cooler, and many others.

Intakes: aFE Dual Cone Cold Air Intake, BMS DCI, Many other DCI's...just google 335i DCI, Dinan, Injen, ect.

Exhaust: HPF, Borla, Supersprint, AMS, Racing Dynamics, (just search! )

If you worried about longevity I would just get basic mods done like Intake, Exhaust, and running a mild tune that only increases boost by a few PSI like JB+.

downpipes arent bad for cars longetivity are they?
Yes I ve been searching and I found that AR designs catless are the most popular. Ive also heard making them "catless" gives you error codes sometimes. Is this true? Do I need to do anything about it?
Thanks for the help

I would do tune first, then DPs..

For DPs ar design is considered the best, and the new AA pipes have been shown to be popular as well. There is a GB on the AA pipes right now
