Apple Aperture vs Adobe Photoshop

Which one do you guys use/ prefer? I'm currently learning to use aperture and I think I like it, I've only used Photoshop a couple of times.. I'm new to the whole post photo editing wagon

Aperture is more comparable to Lightroom.

Photoshop is limited compared to what aperture can do as well. I use Aperture + Photoshop. Wasn't a fan of lightroom. In fact, I'm not a fan of Adobe software as of late in general. Unfortunately there's nothing that competes well with Photoshop and Illustrator so I'm stuck using them.

Lightroom 2.0 + Photoshop CS4 is where it's at.

Lightroom for color corrections and adjustments, exposure tuning... Photoshop for all layer masking, removal, and other hardcore manipulations.

Two completely different tools.

Definitely would choose Lightroom over Aperture though... Lightroom you can have a complete workflow with Photoshop and export your files directly into Photoshop, saves extra files being saved, etc.

You can do the same with Aperture. It reads, catalogs, and exports PSDs just fine. Choosing between Aperture and Lightroom is all about personal preference. Neither one is the BETTER tool.

Why not have them all?

I prefer Aperture over Lightroom just due to the simplicity.

However Photoshop is necessary when I need to make more in-depth adjustments I can't do with Aperture.

I feel the Adobe packages have just ballooned and I can't keep up with the interface changes (although minor) and new features - I just can't be bothered. So I like Aperture as to me it's just a tool for me to enjoy Photography =)
