Modifying the exhaust of a pre-lci 328i E90?

I have an '07 328i and I've recently been thinking of mods for my car and I wanted to know if it was at all possible to install a 335i exhaust system or M3 exhaust system into the car

I know a lot of people would say "Why don't you just buy a 335 or an M3?" but I just wanted to keep the low insurance and high gas mileage of my 328i, so sorry

But to make it quick, is it possible to install a 335i exhaust or M3 exhaust on a 328i? Or would I have to go to a performance shop and have them custom make an exhaust system? I was planning on buying an M-Tech front and rear as well.

Need a custom exhaust unless you replace the underfloor storage bin, heat shields, and relocate the EVAP canister.

I wonder how much work that all equates to? Man hours wise. Any adverse affects on the car after installing a stock 335 exhaust? Where would you relocate those items? Would it be the same on a e93 328i?

I think it would be more cost effective if you just went with a quad tip setup. Trying to use actual 335/m3 exhaust parts probably won't give you any performance gains, and will be for aesthetics. If you just want the look of the 335/m3, then there are plenty of setups that utilize the dual or quad setup.

Mac if you wanted too, I think Leo at Detail Addict may have stock 335 mufflers at his shop but this was last year. I'd get that if the price is right and gut the muffler to make it straight pipe inside.

I had a similar question a while back. Went to a local body shop in LA and they quoted me at 450 for a muffler delete and dual exhaust on my 328i sedan. This price doesn't include a rear bumper or the paint, which together is another 500.

Sorry for the noob question, but what exactly is a muffler delete? Also, would I just go to a garage or body shop and ask for a quad tip set up? Or what would the plan be?

muffler delete is simply you cut the muffler and replace it with straigh pipe .. go on youtube you will find a lot of video about this ..... cheapest way to get a loud sound, and IMO sound good enough

Just like Frenk said you just remove the muffler and replace it with a striaght pipe. Now, because there is nothing to muffle the sound, the exhaust is louder. I wouldn't trust normal body shops with a job like this because its easy to mess up. I have a place that specializes in exhaust work and have done this conversion many times. 2k Racing off of Reseda on the 101 Freeway in California if you're nearby

I had a muffler delete on mine a few weeks ago. It was only $30 bucks a side on my 335i.

is it reversible ? I guess you keep your muffler ?

Exactly, if its too loud you could also add in a muffler if you have the space for it. I'm sure the body shop will let you keep your muffler considering its yours

1) Read my first post above about the storage bin.

2) EAS requires a core (OEM M3 muffler), which I'm guessing you don't have.

3) It's not going to sound like that.

Why are you so adamant about using an off the shelf 335i or M3 exhaust? Unless you can get it for dirt cheap, there is no benefit and your 328i will not sound like a 335i or M3.

If you just want the dual/quad look, the cheapest and simplest option is to get a custom exhaust made.

I saw some in the exhaust section of e90post actually, but I don't think they were made by this company.. What company makes them?
