Cleaning Wheel Lips - BBS LM

Is it a bad idea to clean the lips on my BBS LM's with detail spray in between washes or will it damage the clear coat?

Detail spray will not harm them, however i recommend using just water rinse, and then use a few microfibers to clean them. Easier on the wheel.

IMHO spray would be better unless you are using clean water. Depends on where you live but over time hard water or city water might leave ghost marks on the surface. Best to protect them with some Colinite 845. Will be durable if used 3-4 times a year on the lips.

If I had to be honest, I hated cleaning mine. The lips were a pain to maintain.
Probably the #1 reason I stayed away from polished lips ever since.
When they're clean. DAMN do they look good though!

if it's light dusting like after a quick drive the detail spray would work fine.
- Auto Finesse Finale

if you need wheel cleaning use a good wheel cleaner - Sonax Full Effect Wheel Cleaner.

if you have heavier dust a rinseless wash would be good as it will remove more dust. - 1Z Waterless Wash

To go another step you should make sure you protect your rims after each cleaning hit them up with a wax, sealant, or coating - this will ease your wheel cleaning.
