Sneak Peek - Awron Gauge Demo for M5/M6 models

A few of the locals have heard about this already but wanted to get a quick sneak peek of the new integrated display from Awron for M5/M6 models being released shortly.

The Awron Gauge is an all-in-one display unit that presents a wide array of real time data for the new F-Chassis5/6-Series, including M models. Featuring a sharp, full color OLED display, the Awron gauge is easily controlled using the factory steering wheel buttons for on the fly commands. By replacing one of the factory air ducts the DGA gauge flows seamlessly with your BMWs interior directly in your point of sight. Sharp eyes will notice as these being the same displays that are manufactured for Alpina.

All Awron gauges ship expertly pre-assembled into an OEM BMW air duct assembly, which replaces your existing unit. The effect is stunning, creating an OEM look and feel that is hard to distinguish from BMW's own quality. The predominantly orange, yellow and green colors used in the display match the OEM cluster nicely.

The Awron gauge is the perfect option for track enthusiasts, supercharged cars or for those just wanting to add some flair and functionality to your BMW's interior. The included plug and play harness makes the job of installing easier than ever.

Display Features
- Boost pressure
- Torque
- Performance/Dyno Graphing
- Sprint Display/Digital Chronometer
- Performance Chart
- Lateral and Longitudinal acceleration
- Quarter Mile w/ Countdown tree
- Lambda values and exhaust gas temperature
- Rail pressure and fuel pressure
- Maximum values

Gauge Features
- Steering wheel controlled (CAN)
- User defines dedicated steering wheel button
- Gauge ships pre-assembled into OEM air duct
- Plug & play installation
- Full Color OLED Display
- OEM look & feel
- Integrated USB port for firmware updates

Models Supported

Looks like this replaces the center vents, so the question is how you keep the right side of your head cool - at least on our side of the pond.

Gauge is installed on the left side of the center vent (right side for RHD models). There is very little airflow lost as the AC is pretty efficient.

The gauge does not block the OBD2 port, as it is left free for diagnostics. The Awron will instead will integrate into CAN wiring behind the dash with BMW-provided connectors (5 in total). This does not modify existing wiring can be be removed at any time when the car is sold or turned in at end of lease without any trace of being installed.

Been waiting for this to come out..

I wish they offered a model that replaced the entire (USA spec) left side vent. So both of the center vents could still function and be useable.

I may still get this and try it out though. PM me pricing excluding shipping, please.

If it can show transmission fluid and coolant temps as well, then please PM me the price.

Thanks,
John

It's really odd BMW did away with the gauges. Oil/Water Temp are shown on 0:12 of the video & Oil Temp/Pressure at 2:14.

The Awron picks up CAN data from the DME. It will display data that the DME is seeing, meaning manipulated values are shown if the piggyback is issuing these values.

So this is controlled through the steering wheel buttons? How many buttons does it use? Do you lost the stock funtionality of those buttons?

Nothing is lost. The rocker switch on the left side of the steering wheel will perform all operation and/or configuration.

The gauge even goes into automatic service mode so the OBD2 port isn't locked out for diagnostics.

Nice. I can't say I have ever used the left toggle switch, so I certainly wouldn't miss any function it performs now.

What is involved in the install? Is this a DIY project? Can you PM me procing please?

Definitely DIY, we just completed an install on a M235 in about an hour with simple hand tools.

No cutting or splicing and the OBD2 port remains uncovered.
