Am I being unreasonable with my dealer...

He's trying to push me into a car on the lot, that I don't want; however, I want to order a car, and pay him a grand over invoice.

A 2011 M3 sedan, w/ a couple bells & whistles, MSRP would be $67,675, w/ an invoice of $61,930. He's offered to do $2k over invoice...
Is that not considered a fair price to pay, for a car that they don't have to carry, advertise, etc?

I know the money questions are usually awkward, and is probably the bane to many, but I'd like to get this new ordeal over with.

Many thanks for all you folks do out there, in taking care of the rest of us.

Cordially,

A Yankee in the south

If I had to guess (and this is strictly a guess), you are negotiating with the dealer in Chapel Hill. You should really shop around. In my experience the dealer in Raleigh was a far easier and better sales experience. They offered me a deal just over invoice on my 335i with no discussion/haggling. I am not sure if there will be a major difference due to it being an M3 versus a 335i, but its worth the drive. If you want PM me and I can hook you up with the sales guy I bought my car from. Good luck.

I bought my 335i from Crown BMW in greensboro, NC last month. I used their chat feature on their website, made an offer, they said ok, and we worked out the details over the phone. Then just flew in and picked it up.

Guys and Gals (hopefull this reply will get to the right place),

Many thanks for taking the time to send a reply, and let me know that I was in fact being fair w/ my local dealer. I did call about an hour ago, and made my final offer, of a $1k bucks over invoice for a 2011 M3 sedan. It would be nice if they do, since they're only 5 miles from the house, but another dealer is only 20 miles away. So we'll see if they want to add another unit to their tally.

Swede,

Please get in touch with me.

Thanks,

Greg
