First glaze on the new paint...
The body shop I used baked on the paint, and I was told by the paint guy that I didn't have to wait your standard 60-90 days before applying a sealant and that the paint was fully cured.
Just to be safe, to make sure all the gasses were out, i still waited 30 days, and considering its a black car sitting in 80-90*F weather, I was confident it was ready for a glaze...(And for a fanatic, waiting 90 days to glaze and polish my black baby would have been a LONGGGG 3 months...) Anyway, It took the shine to a new level and all the minor scuffs and scratches buffed right out... Just FYI, I use Turtle wax, Black detailing spray between washes and waxes. I usually do a quick once over every morning this time of year (pollen) with an ultra-soft, microfiber drying towel... For the wax itself I tried a new product called "Black Edge" by Surf City, that I think beats the turtle wax black specific spray wax, It's the closest thing to an actual hand wax, as it instantly hardens on the cool surface of the car and really requires some muscle to buff it in properly.... For the exhaust and metals I use "Never dull" Stainless Steel gauze and the wheels get hit with a combo "Ice" wheel cleaner (Thin liquid) and Armor All Wheel and Tire spray (thicker foam)...I leave it on for a few minutes before I scrub with a "bug removing pad" (green rectangle below)... I refuse to ever touch the car with a brush, as black is a different color, I believe it needs special treatment. I HIGH pressure spray the car/wheels with soapy water, then high pressure rinse, and AIR dry the car about 90%. I use the blue insanely soft drying cloth to remove any remaining moisture. Then apply the spray wax one panel at a time...I'll usually spray two panels, and while Im spraying the second that allows the spray on the first panel to harden...Then return to it and buff it out. Interior, gets simple light mist of armor all interior protector and shine, an AMMONIA free glass cleaner for the tinted windows, and your basic house hold leather cleaner for the seats and leather trim pieces... Thats about as detailed of a detailing description I can get lol.

Results...
And quick question. It's most likely in my head but a completely unpolished car vs. a properly waxed car...You can feel how much easier it is to move a cloth down the side of the car once it's polished... I always feel like the car is a tad bit faster immediately after a good detailing...
Has anyone ever done a study to see if a proper polishing reduces the drag coefficient enough to notice? I'm guessing it's all in my head but who knows? (And in case your wondering, that's Granny in the reflection watching me detail the car in her driveway) Even she thinks the M3 is very "Jazzy" and said the white letters remind her of my deceased grandfathers 1967 Yellow Stingray ...But she kept asking me "what's that niose" when she took a ride referring to the exhaust. She thought it was going to explode haha)

That's incredibly interesting. I actually majored in physics in college and I've just spent the last 5 minutes doing "thought experiments" as to what forces are at play here...My only possible explanation is that maybe the there is less total surface area encountering wind resistance at a given time because the dimples are in the "slip-stream" of the higher surfaces...
Although, I think there are too many variables to call their experiment scientific. I'm going to look into this further and try to find the reason for such a counter intuitive phenomenon... Maybe it's time to start making dimpled hoods out of carbon fiber.

Here is a sound clip of my exhaust...
I originally bought the CNT racing exhaust from a fellow forum member as a cheap temporary exhaust...But I have to say, the note, sound, and loudness of this exhaust is better in my opinion than any other exhaust I've heard on these cars...
That being said, the looks aren't so bad either...Lots of compliments on the huge dual tips... Here is a video clip of me passing a buddy in 2nd gear at about 70-80% throttle. Listen on good speakers, as the tone is extremely low and without a real woofer you'll barely hear it... Also this is with oem intake box and oem x-pipe and upper pipes... Super nice ride! Big difference from stock to modded. I might have to get a new set of rims...
Just a couple opinions (free to disregard): 1) Get rid of the Armor All Interior Protectant IMMEDIATELY 1a) Check out http://autoality.com for much better detailing supplies. 2) The white writing on the tire sidewall is way to strong of a contrast for an all black car 3) As suggested earlier fix the registration sticker |

1) Armor all has been leaving tiny dots of grease or something on all of my cars interiors forever. Aside from it being a crappy product, does it cause any damage I should know about? What interior protectant would you suggest that I could buy at my local pep boys? 2) The letters are a personal preference. I like the strong contrast and I get more compliments on those than any other mod...But I appreciate the input.. 3) The reggy drives me nuts, i just need the time to get to DMV and order a new one. Buts again, thanks for helpful advice. I appreciate it!

I need your help!
Last night I discovered that one of my "monochrome" side gill badges fell off. As some of you know, IND USED to include these with there gills but they are now extremely hard to find...
If anyone has a set of these or even c/f gills with these included I WILL BUY THEM IMMEDIATELY... This is the badge I need:

While Im sure this is true, It has no bearing on weather or not a waxed car has more or less wind resistance. A waxed/unwaxed car has the same EXACT surface area. Being dirty probably adds. 00000001 sw/cm of surface area, and the surface area that is exposed has less resistance and drag coefficient. A proper test would have been a golf ball vs. a waxed golf ball. LOL (I think its clear the waxed golfball would go further...Weather or not is goes substantially further and multiply the result proportionately to the same degree of the size of a car vs. the goldball...along with multiplying the drag coefficient the same ratio... LOL, just trying to be as scientific as possible...

Upcoming plans:
I have a good few months coming up at work (Financial Advisor) and Im going to start adding some of the more expensive mods...Here is a list of mods in order I will be doing them:
The goal is to attempting to get my car into Eurotuner Mag or similar by next summer, and maybe win some shows, while also being able to hit mid/low 11's in the quarter. Future Mods: I]Exterior: 1.Mode LM Rear diffuser 2.Mode C/F side skirts 3.Painted C/F hood (Not sure which yet) leaning toward OEM shape, partially paint matched. Some C/F exposed. 4.OEM C/F Trunk lid (Top exposed, back paint matched) with OEM ZCP spoiler separating the painted-c/f surfaces. 5. After some drag runs next year, going for full wet-sand to remove all imperfections and orange peel. Adding a gunmetal metallic flake and gunmetal pearl to the clear. Interior: 1.Performance Electronic Steering wheel with custom painted or C/F center and the rest of the wheel wrapped to match the custom embroidered seats. 2.Awron integrated vent gauge 3.My OEM powered/heater leather seats, re-wrapped with a black and light grey inserts with with stitching. ///M logo in head rest matched to the exterior Monochrome exterior components 4. A few Paint matched interior panels, and a few Carbon fiber. Suspension & Brakes: 1.KW DDC coilovers with integrated iphone/ipad control. Struts powder coated to match paint scheme (Black, Grey) 2.Turner rear toe arms, sway bars, Camber adjustment plates. 3.Stop-tech BBK with Paint matched or C/F calipers. Engine/Management/Performance: 1.ESS 625 intercooled Supercharger kit w/ polished blower, and Carbon fiber or paint matched manifold. 2.Every component under the hook, billet aluminum/chrome/ or paint matched. 3.All hoses stainless steel braided and black anodized fittings. 4.Stand alone engine management system w/ iPad integration. 5.Xpipe with front pipes removed, high flow cats for secondary cats, and oem extra resonatiors, flowing into an Aprapovic axleback with Carbon fiber tips. 6. Might bore and or stroke the engine to 4.8L if this can be done without sacrificing the blocks core strength or raising static or dynamic compression ratios. 7. Performance Camshafts 8.Performance/Polished headers 9. Also going to steepen the gears by upgrading the rear end, and maybe a better LSD system. Wheels & Tires: 1.Undecided. Possible Deep lip and lower offset or spacers. 2. Might leave current wheels, and side only the side of the spokes the same color as the car. 3.Michelin PSS tires. 265 35 19 front, 285 35 19 rear 4.Custom White lettering Kit, to match OEM logos and font. Other: The ipad which will control the engine tune, and suspension will be custom painted to match the car, with Carbon Fiber trim and a BMW C/F Roundrel. Maybe a monchrome ///M3 Badge. A few other little goodies...Estimate these mods to be close to $40K-$50K+ the parts that will be painted or refinished will be bought used. But I should have this project done by early next summer...I will document the build here...Or may start a separate thread.

Also, it's one of the few exhausts that will allow you to run a cat-less setup without overly obnoxious noise. Powerwise, didn't notice much. But It's loud enough that I no longer have to glance down at the tach to know when to shift...And I feel it seems to make peak power a tad bit sooner than before... As for Gliptone... Now that you mention it, I used to love that product. Thanks for jogging my memory...

Spent hours detailing, preparation for Bimmerfest 2014
Got the car ready for Bimmerfest 2014, full polishing compound and two coats of hard shell wax...Also realized this thread is missing interior, and engine pics (which I clean as often as the exterior)...
