Well hopefully they don't "just miss" it in the recall...

I'm sure that is a clerical error.

A couple days ago, I got the half engine light/reduced power situation on my 2011 N55 335i (build date 10/10) so I suspected the VANOS issue and pulled over. I turned off the car and started back up to see if the problem remained. The half engine light/reduce power mode remained and the engine's rpm rose and fell for a few seconds until settling. I was able to drive home and drove gently. Unfortunately, I mistakenly cleared the engine codes while readying the car to be taken to the dealer to be looked at. After that the car started up fine and the half engine light/reduce power mode disappeared and hasn't reappeared. Do the symptoms sound like the VANOS issue?
I called BMW yesterday about the recall and they told me I will get the official letter by end of June. She couldn't confirm whether I'll get the actual VANOS fix or the extended warranty. |

I just got the official letter today. It says they don't have the parts available yet but hope to have them soon.

Ok. Here is my situation. I live outside the USA. I had exported my 2011 335i to Jamaica and the local dealers here says they know nothing of this recall. I would like to know if there is a way to find my build date other than the door sticker? My sticker is not readable.
Also if I wanted to have the bolts replaced myself at my own risk where can I get said bolts to buy? Thanks

Just made a thread on this- just got my letter in the mail today- guess all us tri-state folks got it at the same time
Evidently, parts are not available, and there's no ETA... this could take a while gents. |

According to the letter, the job will take four hours- give or take.
That said, they don't even have the parts yet- and God only knows when they'll get them in... |

That is certainly not encouraging even for me. Question are these bolts only unique to the N55? Can it be source from like a N54. I could prob salvage it.
