They keep coming up with the wrong conclusion.

It is not a car that has competition, there never has been a car like this.
This is pure BMW which means it does not play catch up because others have high performance concepts BMW have no interest in.

It's a full working prototype using all of it's intended technology. battery power , 3 cylinder diesel etc...

- The car goes and stops like it was promised it would over a year ago.

It is no longer a Vision... This is reality. Welcome to Tomorrow.

Awesome Scott Thank you for the info. This is exciting!

Wow. A 3-cylinder diesel / electric motor hybrid in that chassis. I'm eagerly awaiting more information.

Assuming everything works out as planned, it will be in 2013.

Best regards,

Best regards,

im not saying it is the vision concept but it sure has the very similar front as you can see on the photo i put together. the rest of the car who knows we'll have to see as time goes on.

Scott, here is the answer for BMW to come up on the top: Hybrid Diesel. That is all folks.

Thanks Scott for confirming what other sources have said as well. Last year when I was able to spend sometime with the VED I was told that in about a year the drivetrain would be complete as the actual car was easy to build in concept form compared to the vetted drivetrain.

At that time the VED was powered by a single small electric motor for show purposes. This new diesel hybrid system will cost a pretty penny but it will reach new levels of performance- and by performance we need to break the mindset of 0-60 mph and make it 60+ mpg!

I wish I could see the working car but I will be in Atlanta for some ALMS racing!

We are in the middle of doing late night filming here at the BMW Welt on both this and the 6er Concept.

Both cars will be revealed on the 30th september , although selected journalists have driven the full running car at BMW's Miramas facility a few weeks ago so the embargo ends next week so there will be exclusive driving reports to salivate over.

It's a very interesting car, it is not a sports car rival aimed at the R8? It is a lot more than that, it's a concept that BMW want to prove that with future legislation there will be BMW's like this on the roads of tomorrow.

The car will be shown on the 29th at BMW's "Efficient Dynamics" night on the eve of the Paris show.

The upcoming MegaCity Vehicle which in one way is possibly BMW's answer to the MINI Clubman including similar rear hinged doors for passenger entry. Will probably be (well,as I see it) the most important car of the decade.

The rendition is the closest to the MegaCity Vehicle. and it gives the conclusion of how well this project has been cleverly thought out.

The MegaCity Concept car will be unveiled at next years IAA in Frankfurt alongside the production version of the BMW Active Hybrid 5.

Scott, do you care to elaborate on in what regard you consider the megacity vehicle to be the most important car of the decade?
