Exclamation Wavetrac or Quaife?

I ordered new Quaife LSD few weeks ago and it looks like that USPS has losted the package totally.
So Im going to get my money back from USPS

And since I got no LSD I need to buy new, which one I should go with Quaife or Wavetrac?

Thanks

Both are very good. The wavetrak seems to have more features but i have the quaife and its the best mod you can do.

quaife has many years of solid reliability under its belt. wavertac is unproven since its new but it will offer traction when one wheel is on ice/has none at all. Coin flip! Wavertac has the ideal features but we won't know its reliability till many years down the road.

I have the Wavetrac and have beat it to death.
I ran a 12.1 with it and ran a 1.56 at Laguna Seca.
I love it!

How many features can you get in an LSD? I mean, it either works or it doesn't? Please explain.

Thanks!

Nick

this should help, buddy!

I want to buy Wavetrac because of it's unique features in zero-load contions but since Quaife has beens here long time with excellent reviews and reliability it's so hard to choose.

Does anyone know that will the Wavetrac also work like "open LSD" on ordinary driving like Quaife? or does the Wavetrac make the car worse on ordinary driving?

This is weird:
Wavetrac site says
Quote:
Maintenance Free:
As supplied new, the Wavetrac® differential will perform a lifetime of service without maintenance or rebuilds. http://www.wavetrac.net/technical.htm

and there's this post on e90post.com

I'll try to get the next one analyzed by Blackstone Labs to dial in the gear oil change intervals (for my driving habit), but that won't be for 6-9 months. So far so good! Almost a month now and no probs.
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...light=Wavetrac

Would someone please figure this out?

If I go with Quaife won't need to do any maintance or Break-In perioid but looks like there's both on Wavetrac.

Either one will be great. In Europe I would deal with Birds and get a Quaife.

You probably need to change oil but not that often. I will do the first oil change in spring after 1 year of usage.

Wavetrac is nearly seamless in DD except when you try and power hard out of a corner and you realize what traction REALLY means. It has been extremely impressive in VERY slippery conditions and deep snow (12"). It works quite well with the factory traction control as well, but appears even more effective with DTC engaged only. I have seen no reasons to worry about durability. Be sure to use BMW diff fluid only.

Glad your troubles are almost over
Used Amsoil on my WT.
Seals should always be replaced.

Won't go wrong with either. Wavetrac is cheaper. Out of the box, it looks well made. Only time will tell on its reliability, but I'm very optimistic. As Mr 5 mentioned, many of us have tracked it quite a few times already, and it's been fantastic. However, since I live in California, the advantages of the wavetrac vs quaife (when a wheel is lifted off the ground) is pretty much insignificant. I don't forsee myself lifting a wheel off the ground for the life of my car.

Which then comes down to a performance consideration, to which I am confident that anyone who has experienced both Wavetrac and Quaife will tell you the same....performance wise, they are equivalent.

Congrats on your Quaife arriving soon, or I'd say give it a try. I like both products, and you won't need to second guess your decision going with either choice.

Hey guys i'm planning to put an LSD on my 335i.
I heard it's gonna make a big difference in driving. and with what i read it looks like you all will agree with that.

The problem is i'm in Belgium (Europe) not easy to find pieces and people who have experience with it.

And orderieng from the US is not that simple. beginning by the shipment costs.

Does anyone know a proffessional in Belgium who could provide me the pieces and the technical info i need.

Is wavetrac distributed in Europe btw?

Birds in the UK is very known and reputable and not that from Brussels. http://www.birdsauto.com/quaife/default.aspx?make=BMW
There is Drexler in Germany, also very good, but a bit more expensive. http://www.drexler-motorsport.com/
Wavetrac is distributed in the UK and in Germany http://www.wavetrac.net/dealers.htm

the installation of a LSD itself is not that difficult and can be done by a good shop.
