I have the EOS-M. Image quality is quite good, although I doubt it compares to the X-T1 (which costs 4x as much). The EOS-M's biggest drawback is slowish AF and time between shots.

I own the 7D/5D3 combination also. I find that the 5D3 has the superior AF of the two, so that's what I use with my big lenses.

I honestly havent noticed much a difference in terms of speed. But the 5D seems a bit more accurate to me (though I just got it, so I havent used it to shoot a race yet). Im not sure which ill use mainly, though ill probably still use the 7D for most of my on track stuff (I love the free teleconverter!)

As I understood it, the 7D will get more fps but the 5D has better AF. If you get tons of light then AF is not so important as you can start using DOF

is the AF still shit after the update or is it at least acceptable for normal use? would be used mostly for street snaps of (probably) parked cars, so i guess time between shots shouldn't be a huge issue - got my 7D for that

I've tried this with my 7D and it doesn't fix the problem with moving subjects. I'll use f/8 and even f/11 and still get OOF shots almost half the time with the 7D in AI Servo mode. With the 7D, the solution is to take lots and lots of shots and pray that one, with a good pose, will be in super sharp focus. Your odds are way better with the 5D3 and twice as good as the 5D if you move to the 1D X.

I'm talking about a super-telephoto. With something like a 70-200mm, this strategy works.

The AF isn't bad, especially with the superb 22mm pancake lens. AF time isn't nearly up to par with the 5D/6D/7D line, but it's quick enough for anything not moving fast. It's time to the next shot where it lags. Continuous mode works fine, but if you're shooting single shots one after the other, you wait a good 2 seconds between shots.

Let me restate that the 22mm lens for the EOS-M is stellar. I rank it as one of Canon's best WA lenses. You can pull 100% crops out of it and they'll have awesome detail. Here's one.

Mark, you know you have that $5400 burning a hole in your pocket. Better get rid of it before you go up in flames.

Damn, that's a great price. Don't have $5400 right now, though. Alas.

Who needs a retirement account. Cash out...
Or get rid of the C. At least I could sell my 300 to offset the cost some.

I don't think anyone notified me that Easter was cancelled for 2014. No one here and no candy or eggs.
I took a friend shooting. I shot with a Panasonic LX-7, I like it.

That's a range? Not much of a backstop.

At least it's a range. My neighbor was out target shooting in his backyard again yesterday. We don't need no stinking range, I guess.

Just let go of my x100 since deals on the x-e1 are so cheap now. The temptation to get a set of fast fuji primes is strong.
