I just really hope the nose isn't going to be as flat as the new 7 and 5er!

has to be, thanks to the nanny state in the EU.

now the car doesnt have to just be safe for the driver, but for the moron that steps in front of it. too bad they cant stop making laws like this and putting padding everywhere...because in a few years without all the padding and bumpers, the morons would all be dead and not making any more stupid laws to protect themselves.

at least it gives manufacturers in the US the opportunity to make a good looking car.

For now, it just looks like an Audi A4. Does the fact that the A4 sells better than the 3-er in Germany influenced the next 3-series design ? I hope not, and I hope this interpretation is not conform to the original !

How come the other manufacturers are not releasing new models with these blunt front ends? (new E Class for example) Why is BMW the only one complying with the new ped standards?

BMW seems to be going back to the "one sausage in different lengths" approach with the 3, 5 and 7. Whatever. I think that most 3er drivers will accept the new style, but worry about overall weight and length. At some point, BMW is going to have to lighten up their cars to deal with the upcoming MPG requirements. It cannot be only about smaller engines. 4 bangers trying to lug around fat bodies don't get good mileage either, especially turbos.

+1

That's what I was thinking. Looks like a Honda or Nissan.
