MacBook Pro Help!

Any Mac wizards please help.

I had OSX 10.6.8 Snow Leopard and upgraded to Mavericks. For various reasons I need to downgrade back to Snow Leopard.

I have googled and youtubed a few topics but it doesn't look like anyone has done this for Mavericks yet.

I am on a Late 2009 MBP (don't judge me) and do not have the install disc but it was normally installed with Snow Leopard.

I'd pay you with titties (or ass) pics from women in advance, but I'm still at work.

Do you have a back up of your stuff? If so then I'd assume you can wipe the drive and put snow leopard back on and then copy your data back.

Yes, I tried rebooting in recovery mode with Comm + R and selecting disk utilities to wipe it and start fresh but that's where I'm getting stuck. I'm missing some steps I guess

I think you need a disk in there. I don't think you can wipe the drive while booted from the hard drive. Put in either the mavericks or snow leopard disk and wipe the drive that way.

That's the part I was afraid of, I don't have either installer disk. Well, I found a shop that says they can do it in 20 minutes for $40, but I thought this was something simple I can do at home. hey thanks for your help thus far!

I'll keep researching.

you need to boot from either a usb drive or the CD that came with your computer. Then, plug in your time machine back up during the set up process.

i pm'd you

Command +r won't work but maybe a time machine backup will?

There is no official downgrade but you can use your restore disk to get it back. Unfortunately, you will lose all your files because as you upgraded, the file structure changed.

Not a problem with Mavericks just that the amount of music programs that I'm using work only on Snow Leopard. (i.e pro tools, logic, omnisphere etc...)

Are you an Apple tech guy?

This was/is the solution however getting snow leopard was the hard part when you don't have the installation disk.

I ended up paying a computer guy $20 to get me back to 10.6.8

Thank you all for your help! I also found out that most music/movie/photo guys prefer snow leopard over the new stuff for a multitude of reasons. (according to this computer whiz guy)
