WTB: Winter wheels/tires in Vancouver [Update: Found!]
Hi all,
I'm looking for some rims, with or without tires. Basically anything that can fit Pirelli Winter 270 Sottozero Serie II-245/35R19 XL and 265/35R19. If they already have winter tires with some tread left, that'll be fine with me, too. Otherwise I'm considering ordering from Volco Tires (www.1010tires.com) or BMW, but that's not cheap. Any other suggestions for vendors or tire sizes are welcome, too.

For 19s, most people select between 235/255, stock 245/265, or 255/275. Narrower is theoretically better for slicing through snow. I've tried 235/255 Dunlop Wintersports, and now run 255/275 Blizzak LM60s. I've used the Sottozeros on my previous E60 535 - they're decent too.

Hello,
I have my OEM 19's (wheels only) that I'm not using. Could probably be convinced to let them go. Just sitting in boxes in my parking spot. Let me know. Cheers. |

I brought my winter tires and rims with me from calgary to Vancouver which I don't think I will use. They are OEM 18 ones. How much do you want to spend? I might let them go if the offer is good.

I have the black competition wheels now, so I was looking for a change of colour. Was considering these wheels, but the OEM 19's would be great, too! I'm looking to save some money as the tires themselves are not cheap.

For a new set, it's between $2,600-3,000. So if these are in good condition, without scratches/dents, what would be a good price? Looking at some online ads and forum postings, I see anywhere from $700 to $1,400. So something like $1,100 would be a reasonable offer? Last time I bought rims I spent $200, but it was from a friend and 17" wheels for a civic with 20% tread tires. Those were the days.

Two negatives: Victoria and TPMS. I don't have/need TPMS, and just the ferry to Victoria and back is $160. But I would be prepared to make a deal. Maybe you can split the TPMS?

Sold!
I got these RIMs: Riva MX7 Which unfortunately didn't have 9.5" width, so I used 8.5", which actually might be helpful in the snow. In the rear 10". These 19" are beauties and seem like decent quality when I examined them in person, about on par with VMR I would say. Very nice finish. I'm getting the black & white BMW caps. Looks better than the colour ones, don't you think? I lucked out on the tires and got some of the last remaining stock of the Pirelli Winter 270 Sottozero Serie II tires. I heard these are very nice tires, good on ice and snow and very good in rain or even dry unlike some winter tires. Weather in Vancouver is unpredictable. There might be a few days of snow, or slush, but mostly rain and who knows whatever else. So tires good for rain in coldish weather is just what I was looking for. They only had 255/275, which is fine by me. We'll see how the wider tire looks on the thinner front rim. The rear wheel has an offset of 38mm, so I might get a couple spacers if it doesn't look flush enough.
