Smile New 335d xdrive Touring ordered

Hi all

Another new member to the forum - great site btw

Ordered the following spec a few weeks ago

F31 335d M Sport
Mineral Grey
19" 403M wheels
Professional Media
Heated front seats
Sun protection glass
Front sliding arm rest
De-badged
Aluminium hexagon trim with high gloss finish
Service pack
Black Dakota

Have read the posts about ride height of the xdrive but have viewed similar cars at the dealer and it's not an issue for me.

Would have gone for the M sport plus pack but just couldn't stretch the budget. Nagging doubts that I should have gone for the adaptive suspension....?

I'm changing from driving an Audi of some sort for the past 10 years, so really looking forward to a change.

Originally thought about a used M3 saloon but the economy just didn't work for me. Still don't thing I've got the itch to own an M3 out of my system yet though.. But test drive of a 330d saloon convinced me of the ability of this car and the touring plus 335d performance won the day for now.

Can't wait! Delivery looking like early May.

I'll post pictures and my thoughts in a month or two when I take delivery.

A lot of 335d's ordered lately!

Did a lot of research on this site before buying and found it excellent source of info and quite a welcoming forum in comparison to others.

Hope you don't have to wait too long!

Welcome to the forum!

The non adaptive suspension on an MSport with xdrive is not just higher, but also a lot softer than the sdrive MSport, so it's not just the cosmetics that come in to it. If you do like to drive fast and hustle the car along on the country roads then adaptive is a bit of a must for me.

You've specced the bigger wheels, and the sun protection glass, so may be worth speccing the M SPort plus pack instead as it includes those, plus the xenons and the HK stereo- well worthwhile it. The standard headlamps and stereo are crap!

Thanks for responses. What would be the best return on stretching my budget...? Upgrade to M Sport Plus or go for the adaptive M Sport suspension...?

Either way, I'm absolutely delighted with the spec of the car I've ordered, so I'm debating the cherry on top of the icing on top of the cake!!

I'd start with MSport plus and see what it does to your monthly payment, as it may help the residuals anyway.

If it's meant to be a family wagon then adaptive may not be that much value, really depends on the type of drive you like and the roads you get to use.

Think it depends on how and where you do most of your driving.....if you mainly do fast cruising on Mways etc then you could probably give up the adaptive for the Msport plus and all the extras it gives you.

The m sport back and the discounted vis pack if the offer is still on are excellent value. I have to say I love my adaptive suspension too. As said above the standard suspension is a little soft when enjoying the performance. If budget is tight I would drop pro media in favour of the other stuff. I have it and it's nice to have but it's expensive nav.

Thanks all for the thoughts and advice. Have to say, this is a great site for useful and friendly posts. Car will be used mainly as a family wagon so performance reserved for moments when I need to put a smile on my face when piloting solo!

I went through all the same issues when choosing my 335d saloon. The pro media was on the list and off it so many times. M sport plus back and vis pack together basically got you the vis pack for £100 - an absolute no brainer. M sport pack gets you the wheels and privacy glass and other goodies. I ordered adaptive on recommendations on here and it is superb. I think for 425 it's well worth it. I know the difficulty is that you have to draw a line somewhere. I started out thinking of a 330d touring!

Mineral Grey works well and shines up a treat. It really suits the 403M's.
I went for both the M+, Visibility Pack and Adaptive Suspension.
Unfortunately I would highly recommend all three... However, if using PCP the M+ and Visibility Pack both add to residuals and so reduce your monthly cost. Adaptive Suspension does nothing for residuals, but makes for a comfortable cruiser and aids body control, even in comfort mode. Even on my lower riding sDrive.

I believe the msport+ and vis pack are pretty much the options to add.

The car needs xenons, an f31 needs sun protection glass.

You will be keeping the car a few years so make most of it.

When I added the vis to my msport+ my monthly payments went down, with same deposit. As mentioned it just increases residual at other end.

Adaptive I could not stretch to, however I am coming from a very hard 320 d msport plus.

If you like / love driving quickly in to bends or don't like bdy roll etc, then add adaptive.

Alternatively go for a 330dF31 and add more options, you are not loosing a huge amount of useable power for normal driving.

Contentious in know....

I'd agree. If I was choosing again but had less budget then I'd probs keep all the extras and go for a 330d sdrive

Thanks for all the advice. Contacted the dealer on Sunday to see if I could add the adaptive suspension.

They called today and and said they had double ordered the car to get one for me quickly (which impressed me). I could have that one at the weekend without adaptive or amend my order and have one with adaptive for 11 May.

So test drove a 320d touring with xdrive and no adaptive...

Waiting for now for May delivery but was very tempted to get me hands on one earlier. But the test drive convinced me it would be worth the wait!!

Did you think about going Business Nav & Msport+ pack as an option. Adaptive isn't really worth it IMHO.. What dealer you using.

I thought about many combinations but professional media was a must have for me. After that the M sport + pack was a stretch too far. Can't do without heated seats, sun protection glass looks stunning and 19" wheels just set it off beautifully in my opinion. Added adaptive at the last minute after consistent comments here.

I'm getting great service from Harry Fairbairn in Glasgow.
