The GINA project was started when the Z8 was being developed, over 10 years ago. The point of the "concept" is to open doors on how cars are designed. The GINA concept was used to develop the Z4 and other present and future BMW cars. If you listen, Bangle says one way they use it is in design. They create a skeleton and then lay the fabric over top to see how the lines turn out. They can then adjust the skeleton on demand, and bam you have a new design and a new way of looking at design. The possibilities are endless!

It is brilliant design strategy and awesome out of the box thinking. This is how you innovate and continually keep your product fresh and provide solid direction for the future of the brand.

I think it is awesome that BMW created a concept car to conceive or project a new way of thinking about cars. This car is so much more than specific design. Anyone that did not watch the video should because I explains a lot. It is almost like the designers/engineers went to another level of existence to determine what car owners would want. (deep...I know) But it is definitely like they say, this car is only meant to create a new way of thinking and create ideas. The shark like front end is cool though and those headlights are wicked!

Did anyone even bother to read the article? Thanks M3Power for bringing some clarity to all this bashing. This car is not "new" per-say. In fact it's not even a car. Instead, it was a tool BMW has been using to design cars over the past decade. Now they've decided to reveal their revolutionary way of designing to the world, in the form of this particular car. It's a great approach, and really illuminates Bangles (or BMW's) intelligence/innovation.

This car looks so much like modern BMW's (and has all the traits some people hate, ie. Bangle butt.) because it was the inspiration for modern BMW's

PS. It's funny that even though everyone hates the Bangle Butt, almost every car company has copied the bangle butt which was first introduced on the 7 series

So now that its obvious how they came up with all the new designs, what do you think they are going to replace this broodmother with? Something smoother?

^ Yeah, I'm sure they have something in the works... But the design philosophy probably wont change/need to change anytime soon anyways.

That is awesome. You would never get a ticket again unless the officer doesn't loose sight of you. If it can change colors too, WOW even better!

I wonder if you can transform to a robot too, just like a real transformer?

I read that car companies are trying to work on active aerodynamics and trying to do this without ugly body panels is a challenge. This is the genesis of it. It's the most stunning design study I've ever seen!! (Jaw still dropped).

And I don't think and accident will be a problem, since frame/crash structure does all the work

It is a beautiful idea, but as longtran stated, it would be a disaster to the GINA driver if anything touched it.

I am sorta disappointed that this isn't BMW's long awaited (feasible) super car. ...The ascari doesn't count....
