Considering the Purchase of the 335d
Hey all,
Though I would stop by and ask for some pros and cons on the purchase of a 2011 BMW 335d. My search has gone on for about a month now due to the fact that I would really like to find an M-sport or sport equipped with Nav. I love the LM Blue but would consider other colors. What are some of the things I should check out on any potential buys (as in recurring issues or parts that are expensive to replace)? Thanks for the help! Also if anyone here is considering selling, let me know! Thanks |

No. Don't settle for any other color and find that LMB! It's the best color out there! Plus, the m-sport steering wheel alone is worth the cost of the m-sport package!

Oh trust me, my search for the LMB seems as if its just begun...and I have been searching for two months now. I look forward to sharing my car with everyone on the forum and searching for cool ways to customize the vehicle. Seems as if I have figured out all the questions to ask a seller and all of the issues to look into. I just need that good ol' used car factory to put out a highly desirable example of the LMB 335d. Im open to any suggestions in how to customize my up and coming vehicle

The raptor or "turd" is quite the beast. Its a great dd in a sense that it handles the road with ease and rides pretty smooth. Ive done almost 40k miles in it since new in august of '11. The 12.6mpg comes no where close to the smiles per gallon figure. It will be kept in the garage and reserved for hauling/offroading/trips to Mexico when I pick up my 335d. Does anyone have links to cool and unique modifications to start my 335d project off with?

Performance wise, definitely get rid of the run-flats that come with the car and get yourself some Michelin PSS or Continental DW non-RFTs. Sell the run-flats quickly though so you don't wear out the threads and get a good price for them. Most of us in the diesel forum use Burger Motorsport's JBD tuner that's been considered very reliable with an awesome boost in HP and TQ. That's a good way to start but after that, sky is the limit for more modding!

I had one a month or two ago (between 20-23k miles) but it was cleared as a software issue. But I guess that doesn't count since it wasn't caused by anything serious.

Sorry I should've clarified the SES codes that relate to issues with the Injectors, DDE, and Carbon Build-up.

I've had an EGR SES come up and that's about it. I have 43k miles and build date of 06/10 but I'm a 2011.

7/09 build and only the SCR/DEF injection nozzle replaced...120,000km now, running like a top.
Buy and enjoy. At least you're not looking for an '09-'11 VW TDI... Cheers D.
