Thumbs up Need Nice and Florence Hotel Recommendations

Hey guys,

Looking for some Nice and Florence hotel recommendations for my upcoming ED trip in September.

Also any suggestions for nice secure parking garages in Florence since most hotels don't have parking?

Thanks!

Don't know what your price range is or whether you are going with significant other, but my wife and I spent part of our honeymoon in Florence a while back and stayed at the Antica Torre hotel. Beautiful views, amazing location, centrally located while removed enough from the hustle. You really get the full Florentine experience! Rooms were actually quite large for a hotel in that city.

We stayed here:

Florence was part of our honeymoon as well. It's well located with some interesting history since it used to be a prison if I remember right. It was a while ago . It also had a little roof top sitting area where we used to sit for a while each evening looking straight at the Duomo cupola which is close while having a glass of wine.

I advise you the villa cora http://www.villacora.it
Its a bit out of the center but they provide a free shuttle to the center which is at 10 mins only from the hotel. Its cozy, luxury and the rooms are amazing. Other advantages, u can park your car and let it there without to be worried during your stay. And of course escape the narrow street in Firenze.
Have a good trip

Thanks for all the recommendations! I am looking for a place not directly in the city since we will be driving there with the car and I've heard the horror stories. So a place just outside the busy parts with parking on location would be ideal.

Depending on your budget you can try here: http://www.belmond.com/villa-san-michele-florence/

Belmond Villa San Michele
Florence, Tuscany, Italy
Belmond Villa San Michele has to be one of the most romantic hotels in the world, with beautiful Italian gardens bursting with fragrant roses, set in a 15th century monastery and offering breathtaking views over Florence and the Tuscan countryside.

We stayed at the Strozzi Palace Hotel. A little cheaper and off the beaten path, but great rates, breakfast, and within walking distance of everything. We had adjoining rooms too for our children, a definite plus. One other suggestion here…we took a Segway tour in Florence…it you have the time, it is well worth it!

We stayed at this place on recent ED trip organized by BMW. Nice but not great with big outdoor pool and huge parking lot. Tends to get groups coming on buses. Quite reasonable price for the area. It was a fair distance out of the city though, was out past the airport and was about a 40€ taxi ride into the centre of town.

We have stayed in city of Fiesole which is in the outskirts of Florence. The Hotel Aurora was very nice and close to the bus stop for transportation to downtown Florence.

Not sure if you're looking for an exotic destination but we stayed at the hilton there and thought it was nice. It was about a 20 min bus ride from the tourist locations and I didn't think the traffic there was bad at all. The room was nice and we had a great time.

Again, not fancy but the hotel was better than most Hiltons I've been to here in the US.

There are numerous hotels in the Belmond Villa San Michele area and lots of open parking - no worries about security up there and they have free shuttles into the city.

If you want to stay in the city another hotel that was great is this one: http://www.hotelhelvetiabristolflorence.com/

We've stayed in Florence at AC Hotel by Marriot and it's really nice. I think it even has an underground parking for guests.

I stayed at the Novotel in Nice across from the airport. I was travelling with my wife and kids so I chose Novotel. in Nice and Paris. Children stay free and breakfast is included and both hotels had excellent underground parking for Europe. IN Nice you are the western end of town, but Cagnes-sur-Mer is a great little beach community a few KM to the west with lots of waterfront restaurants. Nice has changed a lot since I was last there. It is still a nice city, but the town has gotten a bit dirty. PM if you have more questions. BTW, they had sound proof windows so we could not hear the planes but the kids enjoyed watching them depart and arrive. One other drawback was the hooker standing on the corner across from the hotel. My 9 year old daughter had some interesting questions for my wife. If it was just us, I might have stayed a little more upscale, but this is one of the few chains that allow more than 3 guests in the room and they had secure parking.

I stayed at Firenze Number 9. It's a 4 start hotel right in the heart of things (near the Duomo).

http://www.firenzenumbernine.com/en/

They use a cool parking garage that's really close to the hotel.

http://www.giglioparcheggifirenze.it/index_eng.html

I know it's a center hotel and that isn't what you want, but driving there can be done without having a nervous breakdown with some advance planning as I describe in my thread.

On the bright side the central location is perfect for sightseeing and the SMN train station is a close by if you want to leave your car parked and take a train somewhere for a day trip.

Like Rome.
