Good grip in both dry and wet. Not the most comfy and quite noisy.

Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas - Naver tried them.

Goodyear Eagle F1 - Same as the Falken 452 really, but not as progressive when they let go so can catch you out, less feel than the 452 and the turn in is a bit wooly, great for Audi and Vag FWD and AWD cars.

Bridgestone RE040 - Really like these, great turn in, seem to last pretty well and fairly comfy considering they have a pretty stiff side wall (nothing coampared to the stiffness of a run flat though). A little bit noisy though, but a good tyre.

Continental Sport Contact 3 - The SC2 was not my favourite so I will not bother with these, nothing wrong with them but nothing magic either and they are pricey.

Michelin Pilot Sport 2 - Absolute favourite trye out there.
They have a soft compound so they don't last long, but the grip levels are superb, and you can feel everything that is happening, this is the tyre to use if you want to learn about your cars handling, it is so progressive when it lets go you can control it without really thinking about it. The ride is also very smooth, the turn in as just about the best bar some slicks or semi slicks out there and overall a fantastic tyre.
But expensive!
This was the tyre that made me realise just how a tyre can affect your car so radically.
gIzzE,

If price was not an issue, what would you choose between the Falken and the Bridgestone ?

I'm leaning towards the Bridgestone due to its stiffer sidewall.....

cheers

Frank prolly got one of the techs to mess with it - don't think he was used to a tractor lapping at the same speed.

I have had a 320d auto for a month now. The RFT's are dreadful, so I enquired with Esure about what would happen if I changed to non-RFT. The guy spoke to his boss just to confirm things, but said that they don't care as long as the wheel sizes and tyre msizes are as spec. He even mentioned that his Aunt has a 3 series (58 reg) and changed to non-RFT, so he knows what I was talking about.

Hi

Look up a product called Ultraseal. This will probably solve the issue.

Guy's I have worked for Michelin for 22years and although I wouldn't recommend every Michelin tyre, the run flats are far superior to any out there, they last so much longer, grip better, run smoother and even handle better in the snow (if you have a 3x2 slab in yout boot).Going for a cheaper brand is just false economy. To whoever asked about mixing run flats with non run flats,it's not illegal but not good practice,it's like putting radials with the old cross ply.Hope this helps...Btw i get my tyres for free

I have a work buddy thats got a 335D M sport with MV3 alloys and after his 10 minute rage out with his RFTs he got hold of a nice new set of Conti's, now his words to me are as follows........ "its like having sex with the road, handling without the compromised comfort".

He recommends them, I have never personaly used them, i am happy with budgets from Blackcircles. Each to there own I guess.

I'm in the same boat! Absolutely sick of the run-flats.
Have done a bit of homework including this forum, and Falkens are still rated as v good, for a good price. Vredestein came in second. Obviously Conti's are the real deal, but they are mega money.
I've managed to secure new 'staggered' alloys (Cades Tyrus) and Falkens for just over the 'grand' pricemark, not a bad deal baring in mind, new run-flats can cost up to 210 a corner! Should get them within a couple of weeks, so will post some pikkies for comments!

You mean 265/30/19?

You can put on 255/30/19 or 255/35/19, the latter would be my preference.

Does fitting none RFT tyres in anyway affect AUC or Iinsured warranty? Can you ask a dealer to fit these tyres for you?

Cheers

I dont think the BMW dealer will fit non-RF. This is the response I got from Stewards road anyway. I think it is best to inform your insurance company.
