Arqray - US Spec & Challenge X-Pipe

The Arqray is my new favorite - we've been testing their US Spec exhaust for a few months.

Here are some sound clips of the Arqray system coupled with a Challenge X-Pipe (secondaries removed).

Sound and fitment are simply incredible.

Brings out the V8?

I'd try Borla or Magnaflow or something.

Mod Bargains it's the answer...

I'm looking forward to upgrade my M3's factory installed exhaust system with probably the "top-of-the-line" system listed with Mod Bargains, which is a beautiful "shinny" stainless steel dual system, perfect fit with no drilling or modifications, just remove old and install new one. It will increase at least 15 to 17 H/P and the sound it's awesome, as well as the the way it looks on the M3, comparing with the "not so cool" factory installed system. The price is what's holding me up. About $2,900.00 including S&H. Feel free to visit their website at www.**********s.com. Unless I find someone giving me a better advise, I'll get their system, soon. Hope this note helps you with your search, and be advised, the "X-pipe" it's not a good choice...

I'm looking for an exhaust that brings out the deep v8 growl on idle. Any idea which exhaust? Or is that not possible with the m3 because of it's smaller displacement? a 645i with exhaust sounds so much deeper than the m3 with exhaust. I only willing to get the rear section. Not looking at x pipe.

So far the closest I have came to is the Meisterschaft GT2. How much drone differences is it from the GT? GT has no drone and GT2 drones?

Appreciate any information guys.

No offense Moe but I'm not sure what real advice you are giving here? What is the "top of the line" exhaust system you are referring to? If it's an Akrapovic or other exhaust, it will be a heck of a lot more then $2,900. Most of the exhausts for the M3 have the characteristics you describe below. The OP is looking for a particular sound.

Also what is your logic for an x-pipe being a bad idea?

the high pitch tone of the Eisenmann Race is definite attraction. Some do find this to be a little too loud.

the Akrapovic is a great system in quality and performance. Slip-on sound is close to stock with a little change in tone... could be the material/design. The Evolution system is aggressive under gas and still a great system for daily driving

the Arqray US sound, which Tom showed a great video of is the rear section with sound beefed up from the JASMA versions. This sound is actually a little higher pitch than most and great pair up with an X-pipe for a more aggressive set up.

Another great daily system that isn't too botrusive in my opinion is the Bastuck system. Again, this is just the rear and it is TUV certified system, so for those that like it more aggressive, an X-pipe will be a great pairing. Most Bastuck customers are happy that this is one of the few systems that don't drone, even with a full catless x-pipe set up. That is why a few of the ESS S/C customers have opted for them as a DD system.

There are so many systems out there and most customers will benefit from talking to a specialist before purchasing on the exact set up and the sound that they want to achieve.

I love the Eisenmann Race. It's different but not loud at idle. At normal throttle openings it's definitely much louder and deeper than stock. At WOT it is just joy at all rpms!!!

You just aren't going to get what your looking for from this engine in terms of base sound. Unless you drop a tuned 427 in it with a cam with so much duration it nearly stalls every loping rotation........ which is pretty tasty too!

You rarely see a Bastuck for sale because they're easy to live with but some would consider it too quiet.

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

i love my Dinan set up, best of both sounds deep below 4k and high pitch above 4k to redline and best of all no drone at all and the check engine light still works for the rest of the car

vids do no justice better to hear in person but an idea

Very true. The firing order for the S65 engine is 1-5-4-8-7-2-6-3, which is different from the typical BMW V8 firing order of 1-5-4-8-6-3-7-2.

Similarly, the AMG or American muscle firing order is different than the Ferrari firing order, for example. Hence the sound is very different.

I wish the S65 had a flat plane crank like the S85... nothing beats the sound of the s85 uncorked.
