Sensible tune for a 435i M Sport
My new BMW 435i M Sport is on custom order; it not here yet and I am already thinking about tuning it with the following:
1. Burger Motor Sports JB4 tune 2. Burger's Downpipe 3. Burger's Intake Air Filter (Soon to be available) 4. Burger's Wheel Spacers (12mm up front and 15mm back, for stock 19" rims) (BTW It's proving a challenge to find stagered lock bolts for the wheels with the spacers...) 5. Burger's Chargepipe with or without methanol kit 6. I'd like to consider a front carbon fiber lip and rear diffuser and trunk spoiler but they proving a challenge to find. The mirror covers, metal pedals, and black grills are easier to find. Is it too tacky to add all this? Should I expect warranty or reliability issues by tuning the car? Also, I just learned that BMW is selling Extended Warranties for new cars. They are pricey: $4,500 for a souped up build like mine, but I am thinking it may be worth it considering all the complex electronics of the car and the less than stellar reliability record of BMW. What do you think? |

These are all good additions to the car but my advice would be to enjoy the car "as-is" before making all these decisions. See what you like and want to enhance before you throw on all these modifications. It will give you a chance to know if it is your mods that may be causing issues or some issues that may have come on the car.

Break-in period
You are right of course. Anyway, I was planning on breaking in the car for at least 2,000 miles before messing with it (other than the grills and pedals maybe)

Having had the 435i for several months now, I have been extremely happy with the stock configuration. That said, I itched for more and went with the MPPK and MPE to preserve the warranty. These two fairly conservative mods were about all I could consider as I'm really a fan of using BMW accessories, not 3rd party items. The gain of power with MPPK was extremely noticeable and made the car that much more fun. The sound of the MPE, nice and tidy too.
YMMV, but I try whenever possible to adopt "less is more" as a philosophy

I was happy with my car stock until I installed The JB4, stage 2 but no electronic wastegate controller yet, So only map 1 so far. I can't drive stock anymore! I'm installing flex fuel wires tonight! Get the JB4 first!

Have you noticed if the JB4 puts too much strain on the engine? Do you anticipate additional wear and tear because of it?

If your really concerned I would leave it completely stock or get a MPPK. I've driven a 335 with m performance exhaust and the PPK. I can tell you even map 1 on the JB4 blows it out of the water. with all the other mods your thinking about the JB4 is far and away the most bang for your buck. So if your going to skip the jb4 or the PPK the other mods aren't worth it IMO. |
