installing dct paddles is trim on back of steering wheel removable?
I have a m3 wheel with red and blue stitching but the back of the wheel does not have the cutouts for the paddles. Can I remove this trim and install trim with the cut outs? I can find the trim for the front but not the back. thanks in advance

There is no 'trim' on the back - it's all part of the wheel itself.
If you want paddles - you're gonna need to break down & get a wheel specifically for PS...

Looks like I will have to get a new or see if I can modify this one (really don't want to) I glanced on the back side the other day and it looked like there were two screws that made it appear as if it might be detachable. I will take the wheel off tomorrow and get an in depth look at it.

The (2) screws you see in the back go thru the wheel & fasten the front trim
I see no way that hacking up the wheel would allow you to install the paddles such as in that posted DIY. If you look at the differences in how the wheels are made - it wouldn't be a simple matter of just cutting a square hole...

Yeah, that DIY process won't work with the M3 or M-Tech wheels. You really need to trade that off for one with the cut outs and be done with it!

I originally did an M3 wheel before the DCT wheel was available and cut it out carefully and drilled the hole for the screw to hold the paddles in - it was a bid stressful hacking up a new M3 wheel at the time (as it was brand new) but worked out well - the shape of the back is a bit different, so I used some black silicone to fill the gaps from the back of the wheel to the paddle, but it all looked great and worked well. basically it is just a foam rubber you have to cut, easy to do it just hard to get it lined up correctly. In the middle of the rubber you cut is a steel bar that the paddle bolts to.
I only did it as there was no option otherwise, but it would be better to sell the M3 wheel and get the M3 DCT wheel instead.
