Not really, just good value for money as does everyone else, I'm able to afford an 08 plate 335i but I won't be able to get insured. They quoted me £3600 for the year and that's on a 320i!

Also thank you to everyone that have shared their opinions, it's truly priceless, and I appreciate every single post.

So I'm now looking at 325i at an older plate around the 14k mark.

But in the meantime I will go to see the 320i, I will see how it drives and just generally see how it is, and whether the seller would drop his price below the £13k mark. Also see if he is willing to chuck in a BMW warranty for the year.

You should be able to pick up a 325i msport around 07/08 for sub 10k at the moment.

And don't be out of the 320i either. Like you said, may not be as fast. (I've bad many a high horse power, fast motor) but it gets you there in style, with reduced road costs. And where can you speed in London anyways without traffic!

320i

Hi,

I just joined this forum and was terrified to find that my recently purchased 320i was a dog.

But then, hang on a minute, it's a great car and the engine is smooth and quiet. It has a rock steady tickover and runs great. After reading through the scary thread a few times, I contacted BMW customer services, who confirmed that it had had the coil, plug & injector upgrade in 2012.

So, I feel happier. If I hadn't read that thread I'd have been none the wiser and continued to love the car.

Ring BMW with the reg. and see if it's had the work done and then you can make an informed decision.

Just my 2p's worth ...

Yeah there are but it's with very high mileage. I'm going to see the car this Saturday and think about it thoroughly. If it seems like a rock solid engine and I can get the seller to chuck in a BMW warranty and reduced the price to the 13k mark I'll be sold.

good value to buy a high risk car? of course you can with 14k nowadays but i paid 28k when i got mine when i was 23 so don't just think my car is cheap.

can you ask your old man or mum to your insurance policy? normally it would drop it quite alot or maybe get them to insure it and you be a named driver?

I've only read the first page of this usual crap.

I have a 318i E92 and it is great. The 320i will be better still. So ont be put off. If you need something bigger to satisfy your need to wave your willy then that's up to you.

This 6 pot Horsesh*t is the only support you'll get on here. Remember forums only show the really good or bad experiences people have. The thousands on the road tat don't have any issues dont bleat about them in forums.

Wrong - the OP wanted a 320i. YOU lot told him he NEEDED something more than that. So now you're comparing his budget against what you think he needs.

Well your a knob for paying that much! That's if you really did, or if you got it on finance or if you only got it the other day. You can be James Bond on the Internet, and I can lie and say I bought a 12 plate M3, but it ain't going to help any of us. Just saying....

Rob, think you've got a good point. Choose a car that's suited to me, but their advice has helped so I know what to look for. Mainly people on here have problems with 320i which is why there on here on the first place. No offence people!

Ok but realistically probably 60% of the e92's out there will be 320i's. And usually forums are for people that give a shit about cars, so you can probably rule out a lot of those folk being members.

All I'm saying is that a 'high number' of people on here isn't probably representative of the thousands of happy 320i owners out there.

I didn't say he needs a 335i. i am merely saying you can't be picky if you don't have the money. beggars can't be chooser's . Enough said.

OP join and ask about the realibility of 320i

Alot of member here offer him advise and taking into consideration this is a lot of money for A 22year old.

Op make it sound like it's his dream car.

OP doesn't listen to negative feedback and only listen to positive crap.

OP wants alot of car with a very low budget.

I joke about a few things. OP got mad and call me liar

OP says he can afford my car and devalue my car , yes its worth peanuts now but that doesn't change the fact i paid that amount of money for it.

I told OP how similar i was when i was 23 and saving up money to buy MY DREAM CAR which i think he is in the same path as when i did.

If OP wants to hear that 320i is good, realible and it's the CAR for him and he will pull so many girls in that sexy ass car or whatever he wants to hear then so be it.

i just hope one day he will correct us all wrong not the other way round.

Good luck with buying your car.

E92 maybe not - include e90 then I think maybe.

It's the engine reliability we're discussing, right?

You bought a 28k 335i when you were 21.

One of two three things has happened:

Silver spoon and arse - Nuff said OR

You live a home with your mum on the insurance OR

You are in debt up to the eyeballs - at that age guarantored by your folks.

People have different priorities - accept that. He might be 'able to afford' something else by making othe sacrifices tha don't appeal.

Edit: My first BMW was a 316i! I just upgraded as and when i could afford it so i completely understand the OP.

What my advice was, and still is, is to get a 4 pot diesel. Reason being when you get used to the power and it seems sluggish (trust me this has happened to every bmw i have had, including my previous 320D which had a tuning box), you can easily boost the power. However IF you don't care about power, or its unaffordable, get a 318D. This will also respond good to remaps/boxes.

But if your heart is set on the 320i then good luck.

He didn't once ask specifically about the reliability of the 320i. The first mention of that was fom someone else.

He asked for general things to look out for....

OMG im 25 now. i bought it when i was 23!!

if you can only think of 3 possibilities then you clearly lack imagination to come out with something better??

Maybe you could accuse me robbing the bank?? a drug dealer? or maybe both. Actually I'm a benefit fraud and everything i have is paid by your pockets =]
