EDC Button Replacement Help?

I looking for help in replacing the EDC button from the center console. The original button has a broken clip, I purchased the new 3-button cluster from BMW but they changed the ASC button graphics to some "squiggley" car image rather than ASC OFF, so was wondering if anyone has ever removed and replaced just the button?

I don't want to break the new one.

Cheers,

thanks! I never noticed that the fonts were different! What the heck! Very frustrating. I will search around for maybe a used EDC button/cluster. If anyone sees one would love the head's up!

Cheers,

BTW, just replaced the side "m" turn markers w/ grille (in front of doors) and the dealership turned a 30mins book rate job into 4hrs!!

Unfortunately mine was passed warranty so I didn't have the option. I have heard that this hit and miss by dealership whether or not it gets covered under warranty. A button being broken is usually considered not to be "general wear and tear" therefore most will replace it under warranty.

thats a bunch of crap! lol you would think that buttons wouldnt be so prone to breaking off in a $70K+ car.. my 2000 camry still has all of its buttons intact and i bought that thing for 1500 bucks!

Sorry, maybe my response was not as clear as I intended; I mentioned that a broken button would "not" be considered general wear and tear therefore would most likely be covered under warranty. For instance, if you tried to bring in your car and say that the leather seat had scuffs or a shine to it, or that you had stone chips, those things are all general wear and tear and as such would not be covered under warranty. But a broken button I believe is not expected to wear down and brake thus should be covered. Check it out with your dealer, let me know, am curious.

Cheers,

My dsc button broke and I tried getting it replaced under warranty but was denied. Said it was a wear item and not a defect.

My stupid EDC button broke. Won't stay one. One side of the clip on the backside of the button somehow broke off. What a load of crap since I probably pressed that button a total of a couple dozen times.

My car is still under warranty so I'm gonna call the dealer to see if it can be replaced.

Same here. Got newer cluster. Preferred "DSC OFF" but can't complain.

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but my buttons broke too. Started with one, I tried to check another, and the clip on that broke too.

They are of such cheap quality! I've barely used them maybe 10-20 times total (I just use the M button).

My question-- How many of you have been successful/unsuccessful in trying to get a dealership to replace this under warranty? Anyone have any success in the PA/NJ/DE area?

Add me to the list of those with a broken 'DSC Off' button. Not covered by extended warranty and estimated at $275 for replacement....I'll do it myself instead.

mine broke a while ago too...funny, I actually bought member Kmarei's switch.

Anyways, you need the entire switch assembly.... unless you know for sure it's just the plastic button that broke.

It's just the cover. I can press the tiny tabs and still turn it off.

Im gonna pop out on if the other buttons and try 3D printing it first.
