Exclamation 335d now on configurator - BUT OH NO!

Great news! The F30 335d xDrive (313hp 630NM) is now on BMW UK's configurator - but there is a problem which I sincerely hope is a mistake.

Now as we know, the "4 cylinder engines" (320i/d and below) have a single, side exhaust.
The "6 cylinder engines" (325i/d-330i/d) get dual, side exhausts.
The range toppers (335i/d) get twin exhausts.

The speech marks have been used because the 328i and 325d are now 4 pots with 6 pot power.

HOWEVER! The new F30 335d does not get the twin exhaust treatment as we expect, like the 335i. Instead, it gets the "6 cylinder" dual, side exhausts.

I may not even have the cash or (extra) want for a 335d when I change in 2015 and may go 330d instead, but I believe tradition should be followed and the 335d gets its well deserved twin pipes!! ESPECIALLY AS IT DOES 0-60 IN 4.8 SECONDS HOLY SHIT!!!! :O

Please, tell me it's just a configurator problem.

The 328i gets two, the 328d gets one.

The 335i gets two (staggered), the 335d gets two (not-staggered?).

It could be a configurator "error", but it would make sense in my book.

That's because the "328d" is a 320d so that makes sense .

Doesn't make sense at all in my book/UK market place. Especially when the 335d will eat the 335i for breakfast.

Does it honestly matter? Two on one side, one on each, you're getting two exhausts anyway. If you really want the one on each side look either get the 335i or do an aftermarket mod.

It would be a real shame as the e9x 335D had the twin exhaust, one either side, which was a key differentiator. In Europe the 328d is sold as a 320d which is why it only gets the single pipe.

Yes it really would be a shame. Especially as the 535d gets it too.

I believe it does matter as the twin pipes have always been a signature of the 335 and the 535d also gets the twin pipes. Especially when we're talking of blowing more than £50k on a top of the range BMW.

We do not have such a prevalent tuning/aftermarket culture in the UK, and what with voiding the warranty and the cost, risk of not having the job done right and other 335d's looking different - it really is not a viable option.

The 0-60 will be more like 4.7s, the 4.8s is 0-62mph (0-100)

The 335i needs to be PPK'ed to compete with that. I can't compare US numbers which are 4.6 for xDrive, AT and PPK with the UK 4.7. We will have to wait for BMW America to give us the final word on this. The TQ on the 335d is amazing though.

A minority of people here mod their cars, its not as common as it would appear on these forums

Yep. This means the range topping 335d is not distinguished like the 335i is, the E90/E91/E92/E93 335d was, F10/F11 535d is, etc...
