M sport front bumper without engine shield, fender liners, etc (E92)
Hopefully I did a decent job of grabbing your attention.
My dilemma is this, a guy (somewhat local) is selling a M sport front bumper for my pre-LCI E92. Will I be able to install the bumper without the M sport engine shield, fender liners, etc.? Have any of you done this? What were the results? Is there a place I can purchase the M sport version of the engine shield, fender liners, etc. if I can't install JUST the M sport bumper? I know the air ducts are different as well. Any help would be appreciated! This is for a 328i also, not a 335i.

you need a bunch of stuff, not too expansive, but front inner fender liners, undertray all the air ducts and you will need to trim the rad support for the brake ducts to fit right (this is assuming the bumper comes with all the grills foglight and foglight supports as they are all different also.

Fender liners and undertray are debatable. Some have claimed better fitment with while some have said no need. My $ 0.02 don't get the two bcoz the cost is near OEM you might as well

You should source the following:
Center Grill Left and Right Fog lights Left and Right Fog light housing Left and Right inner fender liners (front half) Left and Right Brake Air Duct Oil Cooler duct if you have an oil cooler Engine under tray A few other plastic parts are included, but not sure you will be able to source all of these parts as some are on backorder. I'd avoid reps and deal with tischer/longtran on this one. Problem is a lot of parts are on backorder

You can do it without the shield and fender liners, but your only saving a couple hundred bucks. The fender liners and engine shield go together as they connect, if you keep your stock ones and replace the bumper, it will work but the engine tray is shorter than the msport one and won't reach the bumper, so it is just out their catching the wind and will eventually tear off, so you either need to take it off completely or make something that fills in the gap with some plastic or aluminum sheet and bolt it to the bumper and the undertray to help support it all.

Where did you check this?? We sell it as a complete kit, or you can order the individual parts you may need - shoot me the last 7 of the vin and what parts you do have and I'll be happy to get you list and quote on the missing items.

I installed oem Msport bumper onto my prelci without msport shield and fender liners and everything screwed in perfect. Only thing is I don't have the oil cooler air duct so it's being blocked. Shield is not short. Don't buy all that other crap.

JaysBlueE92 has the parts list locked down frailly well. As for reps vs genuine, we haven't found any manufactures M sport rep front bumpers that have decent fitment, hence none on our site, rear bumpers on the other hand our replica fits just like the original.
I'd love to understand why you feel this way, you have a PM. -James Last edited by ECSTuning; 10-24-2014 at 10:00 AM.. |
