BMW's Electronic Shifter Opinions

I am curious to know what everyone's opinion is on BMW's electronic shifter. Do you currently like the way the e-shifter is? What improvements would you make?

Better yet, would you change the shifter entirely? Having a shift by wire transmission opens the door to having more than just a traditional style gear shifter.

What are your thoughts on BMW using a rotary dial, push button or touch screen for the shifter?

I think this topic would make great conversation.

Let me hear your thoughts!

haha What I meant by rotary is the ability to turn a knob to the right or left for gear shifting. Just an idea that I've heard is being experimented with.

I like it. Not necessary but it does look cool!
I tried the rotary dial/knob thing in a jaguar xf last year. Not a fan of it. Doesn't feel natural enough although one could get used to it after a while. Just isn't for me.

Push buttons might be ok, but only if they were on the wheel, and you already have paddles for that.
